3 Days Earlier

"Carly Jefferson?" I was called into the doctor's office. "Hello doctor." I say while sitting in the seat he has offered me. "Carly, what can I do for you today?" He asks after adjusting his own seat, and i'm hesitant to say all the symptoms i have had the last few days. "Well, i've had this terrible cough the last few days. I thought it was just a cold but its been hideous. I've had extreme fatigue, I have been going to work, which is 6-10 hours a day, usually 5 days a week." "And where do you work?" He asks, while typing away on his computer like some mad scientist. "I work at an electronics store, games R us, very busy store." "Alright. Any other problems you've been having?" "I've felt very weak lately. We have lots of boxes with big fancy new televisions and computers in them, which are pretty heavy. I've had no trouble lifting them until now. I've also had quite a lot of weight loss and chest discomfort." I say, my voice shaking. "Okay Miss Jefferson, so you work at an electronics store for 6-10 hours a day, 5 days a week. You also lift heavy boxes a lot, which could be the reason for your fatigue and feeling of weakness. Chest discomfort could come from the fact you have lost a lot of weight. That is common. How much are you eating Carly?" I start to think. "Well." "I eat breakfast, sometimes it's just a slice of bread, sometimes it's cereal. I eat lunch at work with my workmates, and then dinner." I always thought that was enough, but seeing the look on the doctors face, maybe it never was. "That may be the cause for your weight loss." I nod, and he continues on talking. "Since you're lifting and carrying boxes, especially heavy ones, it's a tough job for your body. One meal and two sides a day isn't enough for the weight of the boxes times the hours you carry and lift for. But keep track of it, as it may be something else." I feel slightly better knowing i'm not eating as much as I should. But I think back to my cough. "And what about the cough?" He looked at me and thought for a moment. "The seasons are changing and it's getting into winter, so it's possibly just a rough cold that you've caught. I suggest to start eating more, especially on work days, take the weekends off and use that time to rest your body. If you still feel this bad on monday, come back and see me." I sigh and get up off the comfy leather chair. "Thank you doctor." I open the door and leave.
