Twenty-five minutes went by and no text, call, or visit from Jason. I don't know where he, or anyone for that matter, is. It's as if all my friends and family have fallen off the face of the earth. The image of them floating in space with astronaut outfits, attempting to play tag makes me giggle. I can be pretty childish, but it's how I cope. I hear the door slowly creak open and I snap back into focus. I see Isaac wearing a fancy top hat, a fake Freddie Mercury moustache, a bowtie, one of those stupid shirts that looks like a tuxedo, neat, long, black trousers, and old dirty black shoes. His whole outfit looks as if it's been in a cupboard, just sitting, collecting dust waiting for an owner. I burst out laughing. He plays a wedding song on his phone and slowly walks over to my bedside, holding a basket of rose petals, dropping one on the ground with every step. The song comes to an end and we both watch the last petal fall to the floor. He places the basket on the cabinet, and grabs a small, shiny, blue box from the back pocket of his trousers. He gets on one knee and says, in a forced, charming voice, "Carly Jefferson, I have known you for just over an hour, and so far it has been a great experience." I giggle and I feel my cheeks getting hot. You have brought a smile to my face no other patient has given me in.." he checks his watch. "Over an hour." I giggle harder, blush harder. "Carly, will you take this ring as a symbol of the smiles, laughter, and joy you bring me?" He opens the box to reveal a small, elephant vending machine ring. I laugh so hard I start to cry. Wiping my eyes, I nod my head. He stands up and slides the elephant ring onto my finger. I giggle and show it off the way Janet would. He giggles and shows that beautiful smile of his, I bite my lip. He sits on the twirly chair and checks all the monitors. We get into a conversation of favourites. "What's Carly Jefferson's favourite animal, I wonder?" He says mysteriously, stroking his chin. "Well, Carly has always loved panda's." I say, giggling. Isaac opens his mouth wide, "a panda? Wow." He chuckles and looks into my eyes. "What about you? Mr. Middleton." I say as if I were a detective. "An iguana. I've always wanted to own one." I squeal and hide my face with blankets. I immediately pull them back off my face and loudly say, "you want a pet lizard?!" My voice echoes around the room. He laughs, shaking his head. I start to blush, gosh he's so handsome. "You're not like other patients." My smile fades by an inch. "What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, hesitantly. He giggles and holds my hand. "I mean, are you even sick?" We both laugh. He starts to lean in to kiss me, when the door opens, and Jason walks in. Really Jason? Now? Isaac was still holding my hand in his dorky, dusty outfit. I still had the vending machine ring on. As soon as Isaac see's Jason, he lets go of my hand. I look down at my feet as Isaac clears his throat and walks to the door. Jason still staring at me as if he's seen a ghost. "Have a good night, Carly. Get some rest." He looks at Jason, who looks at him, who then looks back at me. I nod at Isaac, and he opens the door and leaves. Jason walks over to the large window and places his hands on the windowsill. "Hey honey, Where have you been all day? I've missed you." He turns, looks at me, and with anger raging in his voice, he yells, "WELL, CARLY. I HAVE BEEN OUT AT WORK ALL DAY EARNING MONEY FOR US WHILE YOU'RE IN HERE GIGGLING AND BLUSHING AWAY WITH SOME OTHER GUY. IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE YOU MISSED ME MUCH!" My hands start to shake in fear. "Lower your voice, please." He scoffs, and rolls his eyes. "I'm sick Jason. I can't work. Plus I think George fired me, He came in today and told me that he doesn't like couch potatoes working at his store." The line makes me giggle. "Yeah, i'd probably say the same thing." I open my mouth to say something, but decide not to instead, knowing it'd be a bad idea. We look at each other in silence for what feels like hours, but it was really only about three seconds. I look away and stare at my feet, my hands under the sheets so he doesn't see them shaking. "And what about that guy aye?" Jason breaks the silence, his voice shaking. "Isaac? He's my doctor." He scoffs. I roll my eyes. He talks under his breath. I talk under mine. "Jason, he's my doctor and he's the one helping me. I haven't seen you all day! I hear nothing from you all day, not a call, or even a simple text. Yet i'm not allowed to be upset. I have cancer, Jason! And you're upset because i'm not working? I'M DYING JASON!" We both look at each other in shock. He's shocked i yelled at him, I'm shocked I said I'm dying. "I want you to go." I say, quietly. "What?" I look deep into his eyes and repeat myself, louder and angrier. "I said, I want you, TO GO!" He walks away from the window, shaking his head, and over to the door. He's about to open the door when he says, very quietly, "at least Veronica isn't sick." He opens the door, walks out, and slams it shut behind him. I open my mouth in shock, as tears stream down my face.
