A few days have passed and Taehyung’s mind was filled with a lot of various emotions. He had thought of Yoongi, the man he had only bumped into and it washed any thoughts away about how he wanted to quit his medications. Then there were the thoughts of how he felt about this new man, it wasn’t any attraction but it was just his curiosity if anything. That thought connected to his first thought and he just thought about one thing.
Why did that small meeting change everything that Taehyung wanted to do.
“Taehyung?”
The boy looked up from picking at his food and rose his eyebrow to his two friends. It was the day of the week where he would meet up with his only two friends really, Jungkook and Jimin. They started this tradition every week because they wanted to do something for Taehyung before he went to the group therapy sessions he absolutely dreaded every week. These sessions were designed for cancer patients and Taehyung’s mother thought it would be a great idea if he went. Taehyung refused at first but after all the convincing he gave in. Regardless he still hated meeting all these other sick patients and hear about how their chemo story is going great and he has yet to make any progress.
Jungkook and Jimin looked at him as if they were expecting him to answer something. Taehyung wasn’t paying any attention and he rose his eyebrows. “What?”
Jungkook huffed. “You were daydreaming again, hyung.”
Jimin shrugged. “Which we don’t mind, we just were curious and wanted to know how your last chemo treatment went,” Jimin asked before he took a sip from his drink.
Taehyung looked to Jimin before he gave a simple shrug in thought. “You know the usual, sitting in a hospital bed for hours as medicine is pumped into my veins with hopes that they will miraculously heal me.” He said as he focused on his food again. The two friends exchanged worried glances before Jungkook spoke up.
“Taehyung...I know you hate hearing this but that chemo will help. It’s like what Dr. Moon said, everyone, has different stories.” Jungkook said, that caused Taehyung to clench his jaw and glare at Jungkook.
“I haven’t had progress in a year Jungkook. Sure they are preventing it from growing and it’s just stayed the same but it isn’t going away.” He said as he tried his best to hold back any bitter tone in his voice.
Jimin frowned and shook his head. “We’re just saying this because we care…”
Taehyung sighed and put his fork down before speaking. “I know you both care. I appreciate it, I really do. However, chemo has done everything but what I wanted it to do.” He said. He remembered almost quitting and he looked to both of them, feeling bad all of a sudden. “I almost quit the other day…”
Jimin frowned at that. “Tae…”
Taehyung shook his head. “I didn’t though. I chickened out…” He said before he sighed and closed his to go container. He wasn’t feeling hungry anymore. “It’s funny, I was determined nothing was going to stop me but, I ran into...a boy. He’s probably our age maybe a bit older and when we talked I just...decided not to…”
Jungkook rose a brow. "We scold you about getting to your chemo appointments on time and you've known us for forever but this boy you just met makes you change your mind?" He asked with an eyebrow raise.
Jimin hit Jungkook's arm. "The important thing is Taehyung is still going to his chemo, and you will be going to your group session tonight too right?" Jimin asked. Taehyung wanted to roll his eyes at how motherly he sounded.
"Yes." He said in a simple tone.
Jimin nodded. "Good. Then we have no problem." He said as he scooped a piece of chicken into his mouth.
