My father placed me on the nearby couch, an walked toward the gentleman,
"Alex is everything okay? You said you would never bring her here unless something was grave. What happened?"

My uncle leaned back on the wall near the front door, waiting for a response to his troubles. My father looked at him tiredly, his armor falling away,

"I remember what I said that day Miles. I had to, she saw me hit her mother, during a heated argument and it scared her. I just can't get how she looked at me out of my mind and I don't want her to see anything else like this ever again. She crossed the line. I just wish I had to drawn a line a lot sooner. Amanda is really out of control now. She introduced my daughter to some stranger she's been screwing. I thought we were trying to fix things for Alex's sake. B-but I guess I was wrong. I don't know what's been going on, but the schools been reporting all kinds of crazy shit to me. I don't know what else to do. I don't know anyone whose pushed all my buttons like that and made me hurt them like I did. I couldn't stop myself. All the evidence pushed me over the edge. She left her alone with someone. Somethings been happening to my mini me. I should have seen this sooner I'm her daddy. She's been getting covered in bruises. I know, I don't do the whole bathing thing because she's a girl. I've never laid a hand on my daughter. Someone has. She's terrified, and won't tell me a thing. So... I brought her to you. I don't trust anyone else. I was wondering if you could keep her until I'm sure I can keep her safe. I know you're at the high of your career goal, and I understand if you say no. You don't have to of course; I know you've got a life little brother. I just didn't know who else to go to. I was on auto pilot. I know she will come to trust you were one in the same. I don't know if she'll trust me with what we're dealing with now."

Miles thought about it," Well I really haven't had the honor to really sit and talk to her or let alone meet her after the baby stage. Her mother's hate for me is something I couldn't fix. I.... I have to say yes,I don't know how I could deny a pretty little girl like that. I am proud to claim her as my niece. I'll get to know her; I'm her only uncle on her father's side. I'm not sure what good will come of it now with the issues at hand. I'll keep her for as long as you need, as long as she has everything that makes her feel safe, and all the necessities that come with the little one napping on my couch." He laughed.

My father said," Well she doesn't have anything right now except her teddy she calls, "Waffle".

Miles looked over at me, "I know I'm not blind but I don't see a teddy bear in her arms. Maybe you left it at home." My father looked over at me and ran his hand through his hair, "She's going to have a fit when she wakes up. So I'll run home pack her things I hope she's asleep for the next hour or two until I can get back. However, if she does wake up I'm sure you can entertain her until I get back. I'll explain to her why she's here. Well, since the last time you've seen her we've called her A.J. She likes it. She smiles every time she hears it. Since she was a baby, she'd coo and kick her legs. Uh, you don't have to worry about school. Today was her last day. Everything else you need to know I'll write you a note of and print out a copy for you to keep. I'll leave her some money, and you can save some. So bro, I'll hit the road and be back soon."

They hugged each other, an my father made his way back to me and kissed my forehead and said,
"May your dreams be sweet my Angel" And just like that he left.

I remained sleep long enough for the sun to set. I heard a loud bang and sat up on the navy blue couch with a blanket over me. I stood up pushing the blanket off my legs. I slowly made my way toward the half closed door where I heard the banging. I reached out toward the door, when it flung open and a tall figure with a black mask with a Clear Square looked down at me.

I screamed running toward the front door. When that door opened I leaped into my father's arms, I wrapped my arms around him shaken. He dropped the things he held in his hands and said,
"Hey, hey what's wrong sweetie?"
