Chapter 1:

Kora's POV:

Walking into the living room, I plop down on the couch. I look across at the masked man who sits in a chair.

“Can I go now?” I question, like I have been doing everyday for the past two months.

He stares down at the book he is reading,”No,” he answers. Same answer everyday.

I groan and lay flat on the couch. My mind drifts back to the day I was first taken by this masked man.

~

I can’t breath. I’m having a panic attack!

A man comes from the building behind me and yanks me inside. He lifts me in his arms and runs the opposite way from the angry mob of vampires. Dashing through the hallways of the old house, and out the back window.

I stare at him in a daze, before I fall unconscious.

When I wake, I’m in what looks like a normal house. Except it has no windows, and the door of the room is made of steel.

I sit up on the bed that I’m laying on, and look around in confusion.

Where am I?

The steel door opens, and in walks a man with a mask on.

He was the one that took me away from the mob of vampires!

He has a black cowl over his head, and the mask under it. The mask is pure black, it covers the bottom half of his face and ends right under his eyes which are a golden color like my own.

He wears dark clothing, looking much like a ninja or assassin.

“Wh-where am I?” I stutter.

He doesn’t say anything, just stares at me with an emotion I can’t decipher.

“Why did you take me?” I question.

He just sighs and shakes his head. He then walks out of the room.

I frown, then shake my head.

I need to get out of here.

I gracefully leap off the bed and walk toward the steel door he went through. I try the knob and find it unlocked.

Silently walking out of the room, I continue down a long hallway. I reach a stair case leading down to what looks like a foyer with a bigger steel door.

I leap over the staircase railing and land softly on the ground floor, much faster and quieter than using the stairs. I run to the door and give it a yank.

It doesn’t even budge.

I growl lowly underneath my breath and yank harder. I should be able to pull this door off its hinges, I am a hybrid after all.

But I can’t for some reason. I don’t feel weak or tired, this door just seems to be extraordinarily strong.

“You can’t leave,” a voice says from behind me.

I spin around and see the masked man leaning against a wall.

How did I not hear him?

“Why not?!” I growl.

He pushes off from the wall and stocks over to me,”Do you have any idea what you did?” he snarls, bringing his face closer to mine,”The vampires and werewolves are going to war now! They lost what little of trust they had of each other, because of you. Because you told them a hybrid existed!”

I stare at him in shock.

He continues,”They were going to kill you. They are all on the lookout for you now. I saved you from them.”

He saved me?

“..Uh, thanks for saving me,” I say softly,”But I need to get in contact with my friends. They can keep me safe-“

“No they can’t!” he argues,”You are safe here, and you will stay here!”

I grind my teeth together,”Fine then.”

I look away from him and open my mind link to contact Blake.

But the weird thing is…I can’t seem to mind link him, or anyone. Its like the link is blocked somehow.

I look at the masked man with wide eyes. He nods,”You can’t mind link anyone here. No one will come to get you, so make yourself comfortable. Because you will be staying here until I say.”

He then walks away from me.

~

Now almost 2 months later, I have talked more with him and gotten use to living here. Its not bad, the house is quite nice and there is always food stocked in the shelves. The man hasn’t tried to hurt me or anything, he’s more like a ghost. Just silently there all the time.

I try to get to know him better, might as well since I don’t know how long I will be here for. But he doesn’t ever give me any information about himself. He does get interested in my life though, mostly my life when I was in my pack, before I ever knew I was a hybrid.

I hate being stuck in this house and knowing that I started a full out war between the vampires and werewolves. That was the opposite of what I planned to happen. I feel so guilty, but I hate the masked man even more because he won’t left me leave to try and stop the war.

I need to do something to stop them. I really do think that we can live in harmony, there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to. Except, that both creatures believe they are more powerful and better than the other. I should know, I’ve lived on both sides.

I started this, and I will stop it!

Kinda Sucky first chapter, but I gotta set up stuff for the rest of the story without revealing too much.
