Chapter 8:

Kora’s POV:

My eyes widen, I pull my mask down,”NOO!” I scream...but it’s too late.

Kaden drops Greg to the ground and stares at me confused,”Kora, what the hell?!” my brother hisses,”Do you want every vampire here to come down on us!”

I drop to my knees next to my fallen friend.

“No…” Dom croaks, coming up behind me. Greg had became a good friend of his.

“What was that?!” a vampire questions from inside the study.

Kaden grips my arm,”Kora, we need to go!”

I shake my head,”I’m not leaving him here!”

Dom sighs and quickly picks up Greg,”Hurry!”

We run into Dom’s room. He lay Greg on the bed, then jogs over to the large bookcase in the room.

He halfway pulls out three different books, then steps back.

I hear clicking and the moving of gears. Dom grips the side of the bookcase and pulls. It slides open like a door, with only a little difficulty.

A dark corridor leads down at an incline.

Dom looks at us,”Come on.”

Kaden jogs into the dark corridor, Dom follows after him with Greg in his arms.

I glance back at the bedroom door and hear the voices getting closer.

I run into the corridor and shut the bookcase behind me, just as the bedroom door opens.

I hear the bookcase locking back into place, sealing us in.

Kaden lites a torch and leads us down the passageway.

“Take the next right,” Dom instucts him,”That will lead to secret room that I could never get into.”

After a few more minutes of walking, we come to a stone wall.

It looks like a dead end.

Dom lays Greg onto the ground gently, while Kaden inspects the wall.

I kneel down by Greg’s side. My tears start to flow down my cheeks.

This is my fault! If I never told the vampires I was a hybrid this would have never happened. I screwed everything up, starting a war, and now my best friend is dead.

Closing my eyes and I lean down and sob into Greg’s chest.

“I’m so sorry…” I weep.

“….Why are you…sorry?”

My eyes snap open.

There is no fucking way!

I hear Dom gasp,”What the hell?!”

I slowly lift my head and turn to look at Greg. He stares back, but not with that dead look he had only minutes ago. No, now he is blinking, talking, and has even stopped bleeding.

I reach my hand to his neck.

No wound! Barely even a scar!

He winces at my touch,”A bit tender there,” he says. Looking at us,”What is happening? Kora, what are you doing here? Who are they?!”

Dom pulls down his mask and hood,”Your safe, don’t worry,” he tells him, still looking a bit freaked out though.

Greg gasps,”Dom! Your alive!”
