-start of season 3-
swimming in the corner of the pool, i let my eyes drift closed as the sun hit me.
it was when the pool went silent that i opened them back up to see billy walking out of the changing rooms for lifeguards.
it never missed me how everyone stared at him. everyone and their mother was attracted to billy... literally.
deciding not to look anymore, i began swimming around, trying to enjoy the coolness of the water and being in the sun before i had to go to my job as well.
going under, i felt time freeze as i could hear nothing, see nothing, and only feel the cool water floating me forward.
it was when i bumped my head against something that i gasped, causing water to fill my lungs. scurrying to the surface, i choked and gaped looking for air.
"hey, sorry about that," a deep voice said in front of me. i still hadn't cleared my eyes since my main focus was air. nodding, i continued to cough.
hands went under my arms, lifting me up. the person's breathe smelled minty and it was far too close to me.
he perched his knee against the pool and set me on it, patting my back. finally being able to gasp for some breathe, i rubbed my eyes to clear my vision.
"you okay?" he asked, still rubbing my back.
suddenly, a whistle blew, making everyone go silent once again.
"no pda," a bored voice said, swinging his whistle around his finger. i finished rubbing my eyes before i slowly looked up and made eye contact with him. his left eye twitched as he saw who it was before he jumped off the lifeguard tower.
"thank you. sorry for the trouble," i said, holding on to the edge of the pool and working my way away from the guy.
"it's fine, are you okay?" he asked, suddenly close again. his hand was on my shoulder, weighing me down enough where i couldn't move fast in the water.
"i'm fine. thank you," i mumbled, moving in the opposite direction as fast as i could.
before i knew it, hands grabbed mine that were gripping on the edge of the pool and pulled me out of the water, making me stumble into the person.
the smell of smoke and cologne filled my nose and i kept my eyes shut as i fell against his chest.
"are you okay," he whispered, not loud enough for anyone to hear. everyone was still silent and all eyes were on us.
nodding, i went to move away, feeling the eyes of those watching burning my skin with their gazes.
he grabbed my forearm and pulled me back in before kissing me heavily. my hands bunches up in a ball on his chest as i squeezed my eyes closed even tighter.
he pulled away, pecking the corner of my lips once and i knew that one was for just me.
smirking, he patted my back once before blowing his whistle. at once, the entire pool came back to life, only a few still in a shocked state and staring.
huffing, i waddled away, my wet feet slapping against the hot concrete.
"see you tonight, babe!" billy yelled, gaining some of the attention back that we had just lost.
groaning, i wrap my arms around myself and keep my head low as i head to the lockers.
that boy would be the death of me.
