Billy and Betty were in the car together when the car crashed. Betty ran for help, but when she came back with Hopper, all evidence of what happened was gone and they found Billy at the pool acting normal. Betty went back on her own for some answers, and the Mind Flayer/ Billy tied Betty up in the warehouse, where she has been for two days now.

Waking up again, this time it was dark out and rain hit the walls of the warehouse. Groaning, I tried to stretch my joint out. Looking around, I was alone for the first time.
Taking a deep breath, I rolled over onto my stomach before moving to sit on my knees. I leaned back until my tied hands reached the rope around my ankles. Feeling for the knot, I began working on getting it untied.
The storm was raging outside by the time I was able to get it off my ankles. Not wasting anymore time, I grunted out in pain as I stood and started running for the door. Making it outside, the rain blocked a majority of my vision but there was no time for stopping. Running as fast as I could, I ran towards the general direction of home.
Breathing heavy, my sneakers weighed me down as they were soaked completely. Stumbling, I kept trying to move forward.
"El!" I screamed, panic overtaking me. "Eleven!"
My tears mixed with the onslaught of rain covering every inch of my body.
"Please, Eleven," I yelled, but I couldn't even hear myself over the rain.
All of the exhaustion of not eating and adrenaline seemed to hit me all at once, as I stumbled and hit the ground head first.
Sobbing, I tried to bring my knees up to stand up again, but kept toppling over.
"El, please," I mumbled one last time before succumbing to laying on the road.
Time stood still as I tried to make myself as small as possible, shivering at the cold reached my bones. I had to be miles away from home, too far for anyone to find me by accident. The only person who would find me here would be Billy... or whatever had taken over Billy.
I thought back to Billy and I's first date. I begged him for a real date- my first real date. He finally agreed, and picked me up around 6pm to go to the movies and dinner. The sun was so bright that day that not even the sunglasses could block it all. The wamth seeped into my skin, coating me completely. Everything about that night was perfect to me. He brought me a single rose, let me pick the movie, and brought me to my favorite resturant. While this whole dating thing was new to me, it was new to Billy, too. When he dropped me off back at home, he kissed me like the first time, putting the cherry on top of my best day.
Hand gripped me, pulling me back to the present.
"Betty? Betty?" an anxious El said, shaking me awake.
"Are you okay?" I turned my head and saw Max on the ground next to me, starting to untie the rope that was stilled wrapped around my wrists.
"We have to get home right now," I said, rubbing my raw wrists that were finally free.
After helping me stand, the three of us started heading to the trailer. It took us about an hour to get there, going as fast as we could. Finally inside, I ran a hot shower to try to get rid of the cold within.
Stepping out, I looked at myself in the mirror; a deep purple bruise stained my cheek, and I had a gash on my forehead from the car accident. Whatever this thing we were dealing with was, it had taken Billy from me.
Goosebumps overtook my body as the trailer air hit my damp body as I made my way to the kitchen. On the table sat a mountain of eggos and multiple Coke cans.
"Thank you," I shot a quick smile to El before scarfing down the waffles in front of me.
"Betty, what happened?" El asked, sitting beside me. Her eyes scanned my face rapidly, taking in everything.
I explained everything to the two girls, about the crash, the change in Billy, Heather being taken, and how he was looking for Eleven.
"I saw him with you," El started, "I looked again and saw you on the road. We came to find you."
Max sat silent on the other side of the table, staring blankly at the wall.
"It doesn't make any sense," Max said, breaking her silence. "Billy loves you. He wouldn't do this. He just wouldn't do this."
I reached across the table and took her hand in mine.
"It's not Billy, that's what I'm sure of. And we're going to save him, okay? We have to save him."
