driving down the road, billy had his hand on my thigh like he always did when we drove together since the very first time. his thumb rubbing circles as his other hand was lazily draped over the steering wheel.

I closed by eyes, thinking of what was about to happen. I was going to lose my virginity to him. although it was a big step, I knew I was ready for it and so glad it was going to be him.

suddenly, the car jerked and we were swerving out of control. billy had one arm pushed out in front of me, keeping me glued to the seat as he tried to regain control of the car.

"what the fuck," he muttered over and over again before we finally came to a stop by hitting a tree. my head smacked against the glass, leaving my vision blurry, while billy's head slammed into the steering wheel, causing blood to start to pour out.

I blinked multiple times, trying to see clearly as I rubbed the new forming knot on my head.

"betty?" a concerned voice pulled me out of my disassociated state as I tried to keep my focus on him. from my many beating from jones, I knew I had a concussion.

"can you hear me? are you okay?" his hands ran over my shoulders, making sure there weren't any broken bones before he let out of relieved sigh after realizing that, besides my head, I was okay.

"stay here okay?" he said before stepping out and looking at the windshield, which I assumed was the cause of why we spun out in the first place. but his head suddenly jerked towards the woods we were near, making me get out and look myself to see if I could see whatever he was looking at. at the sound of my door slamming, his head turned back towards me, his eyes wild.

grabbing my shoulders again, he whispered in a hushed voice, "you need to get out of here. run home. get some help, okay? I'm going to see if I can get the car started back up and if I can, I will pick you up as I pass you, but you have to go."

I looked at him, my mind not comprehending what he was saying too well, as if he was miles away from me.

shaking me slightly, he yelled for me to run. finally registering what he said, I took off in the direction of home, my legs running as fast as they could. I didn't stop until I reached the police station, my hair stuck to my face from sweat and blood, my legs shaking from the trip. billy hadn't passed me which meant he was still out there alone.

throwing open the door, the cops I knew all by name looked at me speechless.

"hopper," whispered out, my throat hoarse. I felt my vision become like a tunnel, the lights fading ever so slightly. their voices trying to reach me sounded like I was underwater as I fought to stay awake.

"billy," I managed out before succumbing to the darkness I knew so well.
