Bloody Blue Lips

Ch 11: The White Room

The Present: 

     Freya felt so safe in Kubera's arms even though she knew she shouldn't. Camulus and the doctor were extremely dangerous and there was no telling what they would do next. But, she wouldn't have to wait long to find out. Camulus and Doctor Lotus walked in the door with three blue-suited goons by their side. One goon heads straight for Freya. Kubera steps in front of her.

     "What are you doing?" Kubera asks. He was acting like a territorial animal. Freya was a little sick of it because she knew he couldn't stop whatever was about to happen. Doctor Lotus had begun to set up medical equipment in the room with the help of another one of the goons. Freya was able to catch on, they were going to start doing experiments on Kubera and wanted her to be out of the way. 

     The goon tried to push Kubera out of the way unsuccessfully and the two others rushed over. A fight was about to ensue. 

     "It's okay I'll go." Freya put her hands up. "I'll go willingly." She stared once again at Kubera, willing him to trust her. He let her go and faced his biggest fear: his father. 

     The goon grabbed Freya's arm. She simply looked at the goon. "I don't need to be dragged." The goon looked to Camulus and he nodded. Freya was let go. 

     They walked in silence for many corridors. Freya was quietly observing trying to find the exit or anything that would set one corridor apart from the next. It was no use. The facility was a maze. Wait no. There was the large cell Kubera had been inside. It had the mysterious pot rolling around on the floor. 

     The goon turns to unlock another cell and Freya darts in the other direction. She runs as fast as her legs can carry her past the large cell. STOP! It was a dead end. Freya whipped around only to find the goon staring her straight in the face.

     "There's no way out." He said. He's lying. Freya thought crossing her arms in disappointment. She walked back and the goon held her by the arm. He escorted her back to the cell she was supposed to go in. 

     It was dark as she entered. Luckily the goon turned on the light. Freya's eyes blinked twice, she wasn't used to fluorescent lighting, having spent so much time in the dimly blue lit facility. It was strange. There was a kitchen, dining room, and a couch. It looked...homey. 

     "What is this place?" Freya turned to the goon. BAM! The door was slammed in her face. Rude. 

     The kitchen was white. The dinner table was white. The couch was white. Everything was white. Freya ran her fingers across the kitchen counter. It was extremely clean. As Freya wandered around, she strolled down a tiny hallway to see a bathroom. When she turned left, there was a bedroom with a queen bed. The little room had a closet too. It was filled with white dresses and even more crazy, it had large white t-shirts and pants.

     Kubera will come soon. They have clothes for him. Freya let out a long sigh. She was relieved that they wouldn't be separated for a long time. They would be in this together even though Freya was still unsure whether or not she liked him. 

     She changed out of the strange black suit she had been wearing and put on one of the many dresses she could choose from. Although they were all the same shade of white, each dress was a different style. Some were short sleeved, some were long, others had no sleeves at all. She wondered if it was some kind of personality test. Which style dress will she choose? Freya went for a flowy ruffled dress that was off the shoulder. It reminded her of a dress she had at home.

     She studied herself in the mirror as she changed. She was stick skinny. It was like she no longer had any fat. The ruffled dress was so beautiful. So beautiful. For the first time, her thoughts had space. She thought of home. Mercury and her mom. Freya sat on the bed. Then she laid on the bed. Then she cried. And she cried for what seemed like hours.
