I rushed home after school to get ready for my date.

I went through my clothes and picked out a halter top and cute denim cutoff shorts. I slipped on some flats and headed to the bathroom.

I applied some mascara and tinted chapstick to glow up. Jake said he would pick me up at 6:00.

I still had about ten minutes left to get ready.

As I was finalizing my looks, the doorbell rang. I was ready to be romantic and get a tan in the process.

I ran down, grabbed my purse and headed out the door.

"Hey, Jake." I climbed in ready to get beach hair on.

"Hey Rose." He looked up at me with big brown eyes pleading for mine to meet.

We had a good chat in the car, and after five minutes we were at the beach.

We held hands and I've never felt as much warmth radiate through me before.

We set up our picnic blanket on a sand dune and began eating.

I really loved Jake. He was perfect for me. He had all the qualities a true boyfriend would need.

Suddenly, I saw Clara walking towards us.

"What is she doing here?" I asked Jake.

His face turned white and he glared at her.

"I don't know," he said.

I honestly could not tell if he was lying or not. I hoped he wasn't.

She came up to us, and sat on Jake's lap.

Clara, Jake's ex, sat on his lap!

My mouth fell open, and somehow, my jaws wouldn't work and close.

And Jake wasn't even doing anything to stop her.

He turned to me, and said, "please forgive me, I'm so sorry."

Then he did the unthinkable.

Jake.

Kissed.

Clara.

He kissed her, not even looking at me.

"What the heck Jake?" I yelled. "What are you doing?"

As much as wanted to stop them, the tears flowed out of my eyes.

"How could you?" I said.

I handle it, and I ran off.

"Rose, wait, it not what you think! It wasn't my fault!"

I just ignored him. I had enough of him. I ran away into the night.

I went to my room, and I cried myself to sleep.

How could he do that? What was he thinking? I thought he loved me.

I guess he wasn't right for me. He's a liar.

I can believe he would do that. I can believe I fell under his spell.

I cried myself to sleep the rest of the night.

The next morning, I didn't even bother looking for Jake.

He doesn't love me. I bet he wasn't even my true friend anyway.

I don't need him. I'll show him, I can do without him.

The bell rang for class and I pushed my way though the cloud of people.

I quickly went to my locker and rushed to class. I didn't even want to see his gorgeous face, as much as I wanted him to be mine.

Suddenly, someone grabbed my arm.

"Rose, we need to talk."

Jake?

Want does he want?

"What do you want?" I said, swiftly.
