Chapter 1~ First Day

Alexander's POV

I walk down the stairs to the kitchen to see mom, dad, and everyone else happily chatting. I fiddle with my black scarf nervously as I sit at the island.

"Hey sweetheart! Ready for the first day of high school?" my mom asks sweetly as she places a plate of food in front of me. I nod as look down at my food, munching on it slowly. "Son you know you could still go to the all vampire school with your friends if you wanted, you didn't have to do this." dad says squeezing my left shoulder gently. "I know, but I just wanted to try and branch out a little. Make some new friends you know no offense guys!" I say to my friends that were eating too.

Ferro, Ashley and Desia's son, gave me a bright smile. "Don't worry man! We know you still love us!" he was also a vampire and avian hybrid mix like me. Dad explained to me his story a long time ago that I was a Los El Gados thing, but he told me I might as well be considered a vampire avian mix. "Oh! Guys we are gonna be late! We need to head out!" Alisha, Jinxx's daughter, blurted as they all the kids said goodbye and deposit their dirty dishes in the sink. My school didn't start for another hour so I sat staring quietly at my food.

"Alexander baby I promise if you don't like it today we will switch you back to the vampire school." mom said taking my hand in her's. "But doesn't it look kinda funny if the only son to the vampire leader who wanted all creatures to coexist goes to a vampire only school?" I ask, dad chuckled lightly.

"Son don't worry about that. But do be warned that this school is a public school for all creatures, humans included, and they still do not like supernatural creatures very much. Some vampires still feed off humans and that does cause an upset I can not fix. Don't let any of those students ruffle your feathers, literally." I give a heavy sigh at my Dad's words before going to get my shoes, backpack, headphones, and phone.

"You want me to drive you Alexander?" my grandmother asked me. "No thank you Mimi! I'll fly!" I said slipping on my headphones as I willed my nearly thirteen foot wings to appear. I waved goodbye as I took a running start before pulling myself in to the air. I turn on Faithless by Dad and let my worries leave for the few minute flight.

I see my school come into view as I start to drop down. I gently touch down in the court yard as many kids stare at me in disgust, most likely because they are human or because of my clothing. See I love the look my dad and my adopted uncles portray. I'm tall enough and skinny enough to wear all my dad's old clothes and do! But today I wore a simple purple t shirt with a pair of black skinny jeans and black vans with a black scarf. I don't wear make up because I always mess it up and I have short black hair that sweeps over my brow. I turn my music down slightly as I make my way to first block, ninth grade English. I'm only fourteen by the way! As I passed I saw many kids glaring at me, they knew exactly who I was. They knew very well that I'm the son of the vampire leader and lead singer of Black Veil Brides. Dad and the guys still tour a lot and are on their seventh album I think? Yeah, BVB is still pretty popular.

"Mr. Biersack! I ask that you take off your headphones please!" A teacher called, scaring me slightly. I nodded as I went over to my locker to stash my headphones away for the day. Just as I'm closing my locker a junior comes over and shoves me slightly, catching me by surprise. "What do you think you are doing here you little freak?! Big bad vampire dad trying to make himself look good by sending Ya here?!" I grit my teeth in anger as my eyes flash red for a moment. "Not going to scare me kid!" the junior draws his hand back and punches me in the jaw. I fall back into the lockers and slide down to the floor. Dad does not allow me to fight unless it is life threatening as from my calculations this was only a human. He wouldn't be able to kill me, but I could him! I bare my fangs and give a low hiss, the kid only scoffs at me before walking away. I scramble to my feet before anyone else decides to pick on me and head to class.

The day goes on slowly and finally lunch comes which gives me sometime to get away from the older kids, the younger ones don't bother me much. They just stare and whisper which doesn't bother me at all, id rather them do that then hit me. I watch as my grade mixes in with the eighth graders and talk to new or old friends. I don't eat school food, it's disgusting so I just went outside and settled in front of a tree. I let my wings appear and bask in the sun, letting the light heat my onyx colored feathers. "Oh look it's the little vampire brooding over here all by himself!" I groan as I hear three heart beats come over to me. "What do you want?" I ask lowly as I glare at the three ninth graders. They smile evilly as they come closer, me standing up at vampire speed as I try to scare them away. The boys falter slightly, but don't stop advancing. After that all I remember is one of the boys hitting me in my temple.

I open my eyes to see I'm in the nurse's office. I lean up from the cot as I rub my head, feeling where a bump was forming. "You seem to have attracted a good bit of tormentors Mr. Biersack." the principal, Ms. Fletcher, says as she sits in the chair across from me. "I'm sorry for the drama." I say dryly as I stretch my wings a little. "Alexander it's your first day here and the kids are already messing with you. Are you sure you are okay here?" I sigh heavily after being asked this again. "Yes I'm sure. Please don't tell my dad about this. Please." I beg giving Ms. Fletcher as sad look. "Alright, but if it's like this tomorrow I'll have to contact your parents." I nod in understanding. "Now go to your last class. No more fights alright?" I nod again as I grab my bag and head to class. I see my reflection in a window and notice a bruise on my jaw from this morning and a black eye... that's why she agreed so easily because the evidence of today was written on me. I sigh heavily as I walk in to my math class, handing the excuse slip to the teacher. Today has been the best day ever.... not!

When the bell rings signaling the end of school I use my vampire speed to retrieve my needed things then quickly run outside and jumped into the air quickly. Once home I tried to run up to my room without being seen, but dad called me back to the kitchen. "Alexander come here son." oh gosh he is using that deathly calm voice.... I slowly walk in with my head down as I sit next to him. "Lift your head son, you know to always look at the person speaking to you." great.... I lift my head and look at my dad's face. He groans as he rubs his brow irritably before going to get me some ice. "Alexander you are not going back tomorrow. You are going back to your original school." he says as mom comes over to fuss over me. "No dad please! If I back down after one day then I'll be considered a wimp!" I yelp as dad begins to leave the kitchen. "No Alex!" he says in a firm voice. "You didn't back down to Valtor after one punch did you!?" Uh oh... didn't mean to say that. Dad stops in the kitchen doorway with his back to me, his car keys clinched in a tight grip. He slowly turns to look at me, that death glare on his face and his jaw clenched yeah he is pissed at me! "No I didn't did I.... Alright if you can go the rest of this week without getting in another fight you can stay at your school. But don't you dare say that fucking name in my house again, do you understand me Alexander!" dad roared. I nodded my head quickly as my dad walked away, mom chuckled slightly at what just happened. "Moooom! Don't laugh!" "Sorry son but you are the one that made him mad!" I huff at her as she kisses my cheek. "Now, are you hungry sweetheart?" I smile happily at her as I ask for something sweet.

After I had a snack I walked up to the second story and down to where all the kid's rooms are. Dad made it where we could all be close to each other. "What happened downstairs earlier? And your face!" Alisha asked as she lightly touched my jaw. "Oh i... said the one name you never say in this house to dad.. heh!" I smile sheepishly as we all go to the game room at the end of the hall. "Alex dude you know you don't do that unless you want Andy to bite your head off!" Ferro chimed in as he laughed at my mistake. "So how was public school?" Tim, Jake and Ella's son, asks starting up the Xbox. "By the marks on his face I think about a strong Mexican one." Joe, Dark and Amber's son, piped up making a reference to Dad. "Stop making interview puns!" Dustin and Duncan, CC's twin boys, yelled in unison. I smile happily as we all start playing video games.
