Chapter 9 The House on Fire

Zerk ran outside at full sprint, Firestar right behind him. Zerk's father was already waiting on his dragon but it would take to long to get on, so Zerk flew into the air. He used the winds to propel him forward as fast as possible, soon he was at speeds of a hundred miles per hour. It took about a minute to get home and he saw the problem.

Zerk landed in the front yard where he spotted his sister and mother. He landed and asked,"where is Gordon?"

They gave him horrified looks and looked back at the burning fire. Part of the house ha collapsed and the other parts were close behind. Lisa then replied,"inside I went in not being affected by the fire but there's a huge chunk of the roof blocking my way to him. I managed to put a protecting veil on him from the fire but if we don't get him out the house is going to collapse."

Zerk looked at the house and back at her,"I'm going in." That's when his brother, dragon, and father landed next to Zerk. Firestar communicated with him and said,"I'm going with you." Zerk nodded his head and ran in Firestar next to him.

The house was complete ashes flames tickled Zerk, but he knew where Gordon was. He might have never found Gordon if not for the scream. Zerk looked at the stairs, Lisa was right there was a huge piece of ceiling. Zerk looked at it and walked forward, he slowly pushed it and found it wasn't to heavy. He pushed it off the stairs and ran upward a brick fell from above but Firestar hit it with his clubbed tail.

"Thanks boy," said Zerk scratching Firestar's ear as a show of gratitude. Zerk kept moving, he found Gordon in his room crying against the wall. Zerk moved forward and picked him up off the floor. Gordon looked in Zerk's eyes and said,"I don't want to die."

"And your not going to," replied Zerk. He looked at the window and forced the air to blow it apart,"I'm going to use air to lower you to mommy and daddy okay." Gordon nodded his head. Zerk lowered Gordon slowly to the ground and his parents ran at Gordon. Zerk himself got ready to jump when the house shook, he lost his footing and hit the floor.

Zerk moved to get back up when the entire house collapsed. He used the wind to protect him and his dragon from being crushed, but it did nothing to stop the floor breaking apart. He lost focus as he fell and the rubble fell his dragon took a swipe and knocked a lot aside. But he still fell two stories glass rained down on him cutting him everywhere he screamed in agony as he hit his face in rubble. Flames everywhere he felt something which he grabbed and it turned out to be a wire.

Zerk was electrocuted and he screamed again, Firestar landed as the roof attic and all it's contents collapsed. He managed to move a lot but some rained on him like more glass, rubble on fire, and even a broken piano. The piano piece hit both him and his dragon knocking Zerk out but Firestar stayed awake. But Zerk, now passed out, could do nothing for other things to fall and Firestar was knocked unconscious as well.

Zerk's dream was him waking up in a field. It was huge, grass as far as you could see, trees here and there, but their were only two living things, besides plants. Zerk and Firestar saw each other, Firestar approached and spoke in Zerk's head,"we are having the same dream because we are connected." Answering Zerk's question.

"If this is a dream we could do anything right?"

"Yes, anything like this," Firestar instantly grew to a full grown him.

"Awesome here let me try," Zerk focused and he grew older to a full grown him. He laughed he then said,"sword." A sword appeared in his hands, he laughed again. He used the wind to propel him on his dragon.

"Let's fly Firestar."

"Your the boss," and they took flight. It was amazing he felt unstoppable they played in the air racing each other and so much more. Zerk was on Firestar's back again sailing through the skies.

"Why can't it always be like this," asked Zerk.

"I don't know but where do you want to go."

"Look over there see that bright light fly toward it."

"I sure do lets go," they sailed together at full speed.

Zerk remembered something,"um Firestar isn't there a saying don't move towards the light."

"Yes, but I can't seem to stop I can't control my wings." They kept going Zerk tried to use wind to stop them but it wasn't working.

"Well I guess this is how it ends, in a dream," said Zerk. They both kept moving not doing a damn thing about it. Embracing death Zerk hugged Firestar and said,"you are the best dragon a boy can have."

Then Zerk's eyes opened, he looked around next to him was Firestar and he was waking up too. Holding her hand to both Zerk's and Firestar's chest was Zerk's mother.

"Your alive," she cried and hugged them both.

"Ya why were we dead," asked Zerk.

She gave him a look and replied,"for a moment but they brought you back to life." She pointed at two doctors both holding those electric things that they say clear to. Zerk felt something sloppy wet lick his face sitting next to him, on the patient bed was Firestar.

"How long were we out?" Asked Zerk.

"Two hours, that's how long it took to find you."

"Wow what happens now?"

"Well we already bought us a new furnished house and you are supposed to be in bed for a week."

Just then Gordon came up from behind Zerk's mom. He fidgeted nervously and gave Zerk a hug and said,"thank you for saving my life."

"No problem I'd do it again any day."
