The Dragon Wars of Tork

Chapter 2 The Stories of War

As Zerk walked to the kitchen he found everyone eating beef legs and steak! He immediately grabbed a piece of steak and two beef legs and dug in! Besides that they had turkey, lamb stew, and turkey. As they ate Gordon asked,"Can we here about the war papa?"

"Of course you can."His father took a bite from his beef leg and continued,"Well the war against the people of the south isn't going very well. I had managed to spy and get information about an attack that was going to happen that very moment actually." he took another bite of his beef leg. Then he sighed and continued once again,"I had raced back to warn the base because the southerns plans were to trap us. They did this in hope that reinforcements would arrive. They'd had the war with them while we were locked away. Only that's not what happened because there ain't no dragon faster than old Firetooth over there." He motioned to his dragon through the window just as the beautiful green speeder landed on the ground with a dead deer for lunch. Averting his eyes Zerk looked back at his father waiting for more.

"So I beat the enemy to our base and managed to warn the commander just in time. Right as the southerns arrived we were readybut barely. If not for Dreak we would have been dead him and Blackfire of course. They fought hard and took out the most of the eastern units all by himself!" His father said proudly.

"Oh stop lying it was only like ten guys," his brother said but by the look his father gave him he added hastily,"Ok maybe more."

"Ok, moving on we were out numbered two to one and surrounded right when our reinforcements arrived. They fought from the outside so now the southerns were surrounded, but it didn't end there they had reinforcements too! They trapped us in our base with some effort. Though we didn't stay long you see Blackfire and and Dreak were outside and they were taking down enimies themselves while we were stuck. Actually their were like twenty men outside and they had to retreat into the forest." His father began eating some more then continued,"Well Dreak and the others had to make a plan to break us out everyother reinforcement were a three day trip from our base and we didn't have enough time for them to go there and come back. So they attacked themselves they took two days to plan. They had dragon that shot exploding fireballs, they used him to blow up our prison."

His father began to eat some more and drink some mead. They all ate in silence until he continued,"they had tied up our dragons away from us because if they killed them we would die too, an they wanted their prisoners. We had to go to the armory get weapons and fight on foot. We made our way to where our dragons were and we cut their chains with out swords. Before the enemy even knew what was going on we were on top of them we left no survivors. The next couple of weeks we held the funerals of the dead and award ceremonies for the people who helped out the most and construction. There were one or two small attacks too but nothing major." He wrapped up his story while everyone around the table gave a round of applause for the two warriors.

"What I want to know is your abilities Zerk I mean who else wants to see them in action?" Dreak asked and then continued,"Most people just inherit from their parent but he could be special."

"Pfft him special probably special Ed I mean he's mental," Lisa exclaimed.

"Now Lisa let's just watch," Zerks father said nicely to Lisa and continued,"Let's take this outside and come back for dessert everyone finished with their food?" Everyone around the table agreed in assent.

As they were walking outside Lisa leaned down and whispered in his ear,"Don't fail peewee brain." She walked off laughing, Zerk was now determined to show her up.

As everyone sat under a tree he stood in the middle of the yard or more like field. They looked at him expectantly and he took deep breaths. He then yelled to be heard,"I have inherited not only dads ability but grandmas, grandpas, and moms." Everyone looked shocked except for Lisa she was just laughing like the whole thing was a joke. Alright then let's show her up he thought. He decided to start by running the length of the yard. He took off circling it three times before stopping in the middle of the field once again, it took about a minute and his yard was the size of a football field.

No one really looked impressed by this he was supposed to be able to do that, so he threw a rock he didn't know where it went because it flew so far. Still no impression buthe was determined he ran inside and grabbed a knife ran outside again and before anyone could object stabbed himself in the stomach! Everyone gasped thinking this was suicide his mother got up to heal him, but he had already healed himself. Now everyone looked impressed except for Lisa. He looked at the creak that ran through the corner of the yard raised his hand and focused and the water erupted. Everyone was clapping now except for Lisa. Ok then he thought let's make her angry he got three more knives and gave them to his father and told him to throw them at him one after another. They were so impressed they didn't object. Since his father had super strength the knives would come at him fast.

Zerk waited and then he launched them one after another! The first one seemed to slow down everything did actually because when he looked in the sky birds were flying slower than usual. He looked back around to see the knife right in front of his face! He caught it by the handle with his pointer fingerand middle finger. He was so amazed he almost forgot about the other knifed he looked around and they were near. He flung the first one in the floor, and caught the next two the same way. But he didn't have any time to fling a knife to the floor and catch the knife! It was right there it did another flip showing the handle on it. He used his elbow to launch it skyward. It flew ten, twenty, thirty feet high! He jumped as hard as he could which was harder than he thought because he soared. He passed the knife which he caught while passing it. He flung it downward still moving higher. His rushed to where the knifed were with a happy look on his face and flung them at Zerk! He caught the first two with ease and flung them back, barely managing the third he did the same he caught the forth, but not before the hilt dug slightly int his shoulder. He flung that back too, now falling and no idea how to land he began to panic. Only now did he realize he must have went forty feet in the air and that is no height to fall from. He began to fall faster than he rose. As he began to scream something grabbed hold of his shoulder or someone. Firetooth had grabbed him before he could fall to his death!

As the dragon dropped Zerk he was rushed by all his family except Lisa. Who was storming past the creak toward the house, he thought of the one thing that could make him happier! He manipulated the creek to grab her and drag her in the water, she was soaked from head to toe. She screamed of frustration that made everyone turn to her. "Why don't you watch your stepping it's not our fault you fell in the river?" said their mother.

Zerk burst out laughing and so did everyone except Lisa of course. Everyone was so proud of him he could cry which he didn't because Lisa already was.
