The Messenger

Dirty are the hands of the messenger, no matter how kind.
Callused hands bringing great darkness flowing behind.
Soaked in the blood, pain and betrayal of others.
A sign of wrecking to manipulative, abusive and adulterated lovers.

Gut-wrenching trials for us baring the cross of clairvoyance.
Sanity fights with guilt ridden beasts who lie inside begging for avoidance.
Blessed we are with foresight yet cursed to speak damaged messages of truth.
Our effects unbiased and far reaching no matter the wealth, knowledge or youth.

Crumbling is the backbone of the messenger, no matter how strong.
Only able to hold on to the misgiving of toxins for oh so long.
Protecting all within reach from poisonous creatures more damaged and broken.
Taking a little bit more darkness under our wings like an unwanted token.

The harbingers of hidden secrets, outlasted treachery, and unfitting messages.
Finding ways to bring light unto the metaphysically blind by connecting unforeseen presages.
We walk away baring not only our scars but that of those who forced our hand.
Each broken heart leaving an ethereal mark on our souls with its own personal brand.

Shattered is the heart of the messenger, no matter the depth of love.
Waiting to be released from the prison of truth like a caged dove.
Walls of lies etched into our minds turning our thoughts into enemies.
Aimlessly searching for a way to turn off our gifts and accept the penalties.

Load up on bullets and arrows, and prepare yourselves for the hardest of wars.
Bind all darkness, ill will, and negativity while hiding safely behind your doors.
Once you have battled you can walk away from the rubble and evaluate the cost.
Sift through the battle ruins and mourn each and everything lost.

Heavy is the spirit of the messenger, worn with your battle and the battle before.Hoping each fight will be our last one, never wanting to see anymore.Along for the ride, from start to end we are nothing more than a passenger.Which is why we urge you to listen when they say "Don't shoot the messenger"
