Harry and Draco mumble something to each other and begin walking down their side of the platform. After 10 paces, both of them turn around and get in their stances. I lean forward with my arms crossed and listen to Lockhart babbling on about how they have to "disarm each other, not to hurt each other."
Malfoy immediately casts a spell before the countdown is even done, hitting Harry squarely in the chest, making him fly backwards and land in front of Lockhart's feet. All the Slytherins begin laughing and I look back at Hermione as Harry gets up and yells, "Rictusempra!", making Malfoy fly up, twisting in the air and landing, arse first, in front of Snape. Everyone, including me, laughs as Snape forces Malfoy up again, shoving him back into the fight.
"I said disarm only!" Lockhart yells, Malfoy completely ignoring him, yelling, "Serpensortia!"
I jump back into Ron, grabbing his arms from behind me, as a snake flies out of Malfoy's wand and onto the platform right in front of me. It slithers up to Harry and I'm now pressing my back against Ron's chest, keeping my grip on his arms from behind me. Lockhart flings it into the air in an attempt to get rid of it, but it just lands back on the platform completely unharmed.
Harry walks up to it, squinting at it curiously while doing so. The snake slithers to the edge of the platform, right in front of me. I feel my grip loosen on Ron, my eyes widening as it bares its fangs. I gasp slowly as Ron's hands carefully grip my own, attempting to pull me away from the serpent.
Harry continues to approach it and he begins speaking some weird language, making the snake stop moving towards me. The snake looks over at Harry, its attention being ripped away from me, and Harry continues speaking the mysterious language.
Snape points his wand at the snake, saying something and making it disappear. I'm still in shock as Ron whispers to me, "Are you alright?" I nod a bit hesitantly, recognizing the look in its eyes all too well....
"What're you playing at?!" An angry Hufflepuff says to Harry standing near Hermione.

We follow Harry up to the common room and Ron pulls on his arm, turning him around, "You're a Parselmouth? Why didn't you tell us?" I stand next to Harry and look at Hermione and Ron asking, "He's a what?"
"He can talk to snakes." Hermione clears up. "I know," Harry states, me looking up at him curiously. "I still don't understand...." I shake my head, looking back at Harry, "I accidentally set a python on my cousin, Dudley, at the zoo once."
My brows raise and Ron's eyes widen a bit. "Once. I bet loads of people here can do it." Harry tries to explain. I look at Hermione, "No, they can't. It's not a very common gift, Harry. This is bad..."
"What's bad?! If I hadn't told that snake not to attack Y/n-" Ron cuts him off, "Oh, that's what you said to it..." They continue speaking, but my ears tune them out.
My mind goes back to the snake and its eyes staring right into mine. Somehow,
I still recognize the stare that it's given me... maybe it's...."S-M/n..." I thought. As they keep speaking, my eyes continue flashing between my stepmother and the snake. I feel hands on my shoulders and I gasp loudly, not expecting it. I break from my trance and I see Ron looking at me with his hands on my shoulders. "Y/n? Y/nnn? Are you alright?" He asks while his cerulean eyes search mine.
I nod while my eyes search around and find that I'm still in the common room. "Listen, Harry. There was a reason the symbol of Slytherin house is a serpent. Salazar Slytherin was a Parselmouth. He could talk to snakes too." I look at Hermione and Ron lets go of me, pulling me closer to the group again.
