CHAPTER VII:(Song: Love Song)

The cold morning air sent a quick chill up Cameron's spine, causing her to curl up in bed. She rolled over, and took a peek at the clock from under her blankets. It was almost time to get up and get ready for school. Luckily, it was Friday, and she wouldn't have to get up this early for a dew days...and she also wouldn't have to deal with school work and such. Cameron got out of bed and changed into a decent outfit, which included a gray pinstriped halter Koffin corset, a plain black Blue Collar Girl skirt, with buckles up the side, and gray and black stockings. She then slipped on another pair of Demonia combat boots, though these were calf-high rather than going all the way up to the knee. She decided to put her long brown hair into loose pigtails, which cascaded down to her stomach, making it almost impossible to tell that she was wearing a halter top. Throwing on a thick Slipknot hoodie, she then applied her make-up and brushed her teeth before descending the stairs.

Aunt Sherry and Uncle Henry were chatting in the kitchen, and Cameron smiled at them as she went for the front door.

"Hey, kiddo," Uncle Henry called, "have a good sleep?"

"Actually, yeah...." Cameron's answer was quick and simple, seeing as she didn't want to miss the bus. She reached for the doorknob---

"Wait. You don't have to be in such a rush. We want to talk to you about something for a minute." Cameron eyed them wearily, unsure of the upcoming conversation. She walked over to her Aunt and Uncle, and they began. "We wanted to tell you some good news, but we have to run it by you, first," Aunt Sherry grinned widely, and it kind of scared Cameron, "...we got offered a trip to the Bahamas!" Cameron smiled, not knowing what else to do.

"That's great, you guys. You deserve it," was all she could manage to come up with. Uncle Henry pulled Cameron into a bear hug, squeezing tightly before he finally let her go.

"Thank you. We were planning on leaving as soon as possible, seeing as we only have one week free, and we thought that it could be like a second honeymoon," Aunt Sherry paused to read Cameron's expression, and then continued on, "But we were concerned that you would feel left out. We won't go if you----"

"No! Definitely not! You two deserve this, really. You need a vacation. Besides, I don't take a liking to the beach...or sand or sun, for that matter. I'd rather be here. And I won't feel left out. You guys need time alone, so go." The room was hushed for a good time, and then Uncle Henry came out with,

"I'm glad you think so. If we go, then it needs to be tonight. It's the only available flight we could find that fit our budget. So, for dinner, and other things like that, we left a few bills in the breadbox over there. If you need more, we wrote some numbers down--"

"Alright," Cameron cut him off, "I have a job, too. I can pay for food and such, but thank you. Now you better go get ready. Be sure to bring me back a piece of their cloth." Cameron shooed her Aunt and Uncle, giving them both hugs, which were returned with a kiss from Aunt Sherry and a pat on the head from Uncle Henry. She rushed outside, fearful that she had missed the bus. Realizing moments later that she had, she cursed herself and commenced the walk to school. Halfway down the road, Jack's car stopped on the curb, and the passenger door came open. Jack grinned at Cameron, who rolled her eyes but accepted the ride.

"So," Jack started, "Miss the bus?"

"Yep."

"You're lucky I decided to drive to school today, otherwise you'd be stuck in the cold."

"...yeah...of course...you're my savior," Cameron said in mock loyalty. Jack just snickered, like he always did.

"So, why were you late?"
