Zaccai POV
Walmart couldn't have been more than 10 minutes away, but it felt like I'd been walking for hours, I was feeling more sluggish by the minute.
The smell of blood sent a feeling of shock and nausea all at once. I lifted my hand to cover my nose, hoping it could block the smell. But the source of that smell was my hand, laced in blood and chunks of flesh under my nails-no, claws. The site made me sick to my stomach, I tried to wipe the blood off, but it wouldn't go away. Where did this blood even come from and who did it belong to?!
Zaccai Knox!!, I finally heard Zain shout.
It snapped me out of whatever daze I was in. A chill ran up my spine as I recalled all that happened, It all felt so real. Leaving me in shock and extremely thirsty.
Something's seriously wrong, what did you do to us Zeke?!, Zain snarled as my vision slowly started turning red.
Well of course something is wrong you idiots. We haven't had blood in weeks. Were you really expecting everything to be hunky-dory while I starved? Zeke scoffed in annoyance.
Are you sure that's the only reason? and that you're not being petty with that hallucination?, Zain inquired as he glared at Zeke
I'm dead serious when it comes to food. He's gonna have more of those if he doesn't get some blood quick. And if you still persist to deny my existence, we will perish. Zeke stated in a matter-of-factly tone.
We'll get food soon Zeke, is there any way to delay the symptoms? It'll take longer to get it if I'm seeing shit every ten minutes. Also, Zain, be nice, it helps no one to provoke him. I sighed as I tried to bring some sort of peace to this mental war.
Time really goes nowhere when I'm talking to you two.
When time freezes for just the two of us, Zeke chuckled.
You creep... Zain cringed.
I headed to the store at full speed, not wanting to know what else could possibly go wrong the more I delayed the inevitable. I wasn't a big fan when it came to the taste of blood, but now here I am being forced to drink some for the sake of my sanity. I could finally see the double sliding doors of the store, I was about to walk through them when I heard a voice.
"Hello?" I said as I turned to where the sound came from. I faced the dark forest but saw nothing. Then I heard the voice again, louder this time, but whatever they were saying was still inaudible.
"Who's there? What do you want?" I said a little louder this time as I noticed some movement in the forest.
"Alpha...why?" I could hear them more clearly as something emerged from the forest. I could hardly make anything out about them as they stayed in the shadows, taking their sweet time to walk into the light.
Why did they call me Alpha? Were they a pack member? Had I stayed too long and they finally managed to catch up? Panic swelled in my chest as my mind raced with millions of thoughts all at once.
