As said I didn't go to school the following day. I got scolded by Charles for ditching but we made up. Then we had to wash the sheets and made up the bed again two times in the same day. That was after a fun day with Joshua and his mother of course.
I wore my work attire. Leaving a few buttons undone. I drove to work taking my usual fast route. I don't have to be on time so I went to get coffee. Long line though but I wasn't late anyways. I could drive to Wisconsin then back and I'll be fine.
I get into the elevator after parking with my coffee hand and phone in the other. I got off on the lobby checking in on the front desk for my mail in person as the mailman just arrived. I had it in hand and I was out into the elevator again with a few people who worked for us.
A few trying to start a conversation with me. I didn't bother talking to them as I had my AirPods in. It was obvious I didn't want to talk. They think of me as a young ostentatious man. But I like to think I am not. Many of these people came for me when I started my study here. Some people telling me I'm not worth it and I'm not qualified. Which I know and I don't need to be told. That's why I'm learning the ropes. They all had their own way of telling me. Some were blunt with it. Like shoulder bumps. Spits in my face, shoes and suit. Occasionally threats. No one knows and I now have them as my own to do my biding. They were all tough up until I had them know what it means to do it to someone with power behind their name. Wipe my cheek with a napkin and shine my shoes. While they're at it fetch me a new suit. Oooh the perks that comes with extortion.
Lately press has been in front of our building. Take god for security and our keycards to pass through. Press in front mostly means something is up. Something might've happened. Like a scandal or controversy. For even just a statement they need for a article they want to write about us. All good ones at that.
There's no such thing as bad publicity.
Like that one scandal when I came out. I was just young and I was a point people were coming at for. It was all good press but it was too much at such age. As my mom says but that's the thing when I was that age. I was already grown up. We kids at the time grew up too fast.
It was hard being apart of the family when things like that should only be between us family. But now everything and every little thing has to be known to the general public.
I made my way through the offices as I got off the elevator. I went in to say hello to my mother. "Wait!" She says before I left. "Can I see that envelope?" She says pointing at the big orange envelope. "Why?" I asked. "It's probably from the person I assigned your work to." She says as I shrugged and tossed it to her and I left. I left to my office. I had to submit one piece to the marketing manager and that's all since I did some work from my home office. And I needed to help my Cousin Adriana with some resumes she head help on going through. Which are a huge pile around this time of year. We always let go a abundant amount of useless people and replace them with better ones.
I went over once I submitted it. The door was left open so I walked in. "How's your day going so far?" She asks as she flips through papers. Tossing some into a bag and some into a file box. "It's going good so far. How about yours?"
"I'll rather be shot in the leg again." She says jokingly. "I could go for the shoulder but that's all." I said as she chuckles. "Well I could go for that as well but I'm tired. Take that box." She says looking down. Which meant something was up. She always makes eye contact when talking. "Alright. Hope your day gets better." I said taking the box and leaving. "Yours too." She says back as I walk down the corridor and make it back to my office.
