DRINK SIXTEEN

Here we stood again, face to face. Everyone had left besides Ortiz and Jordan, but they gave Sonya and I privacy to talk all of this out and get rid of all this tension building up between us.

I sat on the couch next to her neither of us had spoken a word in the few minutes of silence held between us. Sonya gave off a sigh to clear the silence before starting to speak.

" I um–I really don't know where to start with all this that had been going on between us. " She spoke twisting the ring on her finger.

" How about we start a month back when you caught me with Samantha. . . " I spoke and she gave off a nod.

" You could've told me about her you know. . .At least about the marriage you just got out of with her. It would've been nice to know. " She said.

" I know, I should've said something but I didn't want to bring it up because it really hurt me by the way her and I ended with her leaving me for someone better than me on every level. She was the last piece of my old life that I had, after my son passed. I though we would be able to make it through but she threw in the towel. " I admitted with a sigh before running my fingers through my hair.

" It was something I just wanted to forget and when I went drinking and met you at the bar that night that's all I was really trying to do was forget and I did. I forgot because I got lost in your brown eyes and in the way you would laugh when we studied and how caring and generous you were made me forget her. That night she showed up on my doorstep crying all those feelings I had just resurfaced. "

" I blacked out, and when I came to I realized what a mistake I made. I felt so stupid and most of all I felt guilty because I knew that it would hurt you and hurting you is something I could never imagine doing to you, because when you hurt I hurt. " I spoke looking into her eyes now, she stared back at me with tears forming in her own.

I didn't expect it but she hugged me, at first I was stunned but then I slowly melted into the hug. I inhaled her sweet scent and I stayed in the moment and didn't want to let go.

In her arms felt like home, and I'd stay home all day if I could. Sadly she pulled away which meant I had to let go as well.

" Trayton. . . I'm so sorry all this happened to you, you really don't deserve to be hurt like that. If she really loved you–you two could have made it through this, you made a vow to each other and she broke that because she's weak. "

She slowly placed her warm hand on my cheek and I put mine on top of hers slowly letting my eyes close.

" But you Trayton, you're so strong. " She said to me and I felt myself becoming emotional, once the tears slipped I couldn't stop them as they fell one by one.

Sonya held me in her arms and I held onto her letting all of it out while she ran her fingers through my hair.

" It's alright Trayton, I forgive you and I'm always gonna be here for you. " I heard her say which made me smile in between the tears.

I can't let her go, no more mistakes Trayton no more.
