I I was driving down a back street through Shizume City in my solid black 67 Impala. The impala was my dad's baby, which he gave to me on my eighteenth birthday and since then she’s been mine. She has black fabric seating, and a gun guster directly beside my driver's seat. I was now heading to my new apartment when She started to act out by sputtering and steam coming from under the hood.
"Damnit all!" I yelled as I slammed hands against the steering wheel. Pulling her to the curb, I put it in park. Popping the hood, I stepped out of the car and lifted it. A cloud of steam escaped from under the hood as I put the hood arm in place causing me to wave my hand back and forth. Making sure I had the hood arm was steady. Cursing myself I knew she overheated, I just hope that I have some water bottles in the trunk.
You might be wondering why I have returned to Shizume City, and Why I'm moving here. Well you it started two weeks ago... My father David Harrison and My mother Anna Harrison decided to go on an overseas trip back to America where I was born. I was originally from South Carolina, but when I turned thirteen my mom offered to bring our whole family to Shizume City to live. Dad wasn't happy at first but he eventually warmed up to it.
That's when I started my first year of highschool in Japan. It was kinda weird wearing a skirt all the time, but I eventually got used to it. On my first day I met so many people, but I eventually became a loner. Until I tried making friends with a sad looking boy by the name Tatara Totsuka. He always sat at the back of every class with his arms folded and looking out the window. But he wasn't the only person I made a connection with. There was a redhead Sophomore that got on my nerves, but at the same time it was fun having him around. He was the classic bad boy punk that your dad warns you about. His name was Mikoto Souh. He would always tease me when I was reading herbal remedy and Mechanic books on old and new cars. But one day I saw that he was acting unusual while I was making up cold medicine for a friend's sister. He laid down next to me and sighed. He had a deep frown on a paler than normal face. The normal would already be teasing me by now. So I decided to take a gamble, by placing my hand on his forehead. Turned out he caught a light cold. So I told him to take the medicine that I finished making, and go to one of the empty classrooms. I continued to instruct him to stay there until I got him. He glared at me, but eventually did what he was told. That afternoon I went into the abandoned classroom and woke him up. To my surprise he was rather cute when he's sleeping.
Now that I think back he was the quiet handful. I wonder what that hothead idiot is doing now? I gave him my number and address before leaving... So why hasn't he said anything or sent anything? Before Mikoto graduated, I lost contact with him, and Tatara had become distant again. Me and Mikoto had, well, become closer than friends. If you know what I mean. This was around my Senior year when this happened. It made me really sad, but I then found out that mom and dad decided to move to another district and I really want to be near them so After graduation I moved again. Yet this wasn't the end of my brokeness, fast forward to the day after my twentieth birthday. Mom and dad were on their business vacation when I received a knock on the door. Getting up from the couch, I walked over to the door and looked through the peephole. I saw a man with dark brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black suit with a white undershirt. He had a red tie and black plaid pants. Opening the door, I peeked my head around the door so I could get a better look.
"Can I help you?" I asked as I gave him a simple smile.
"Ah, yes, are you perhaps Miss Anabella Lee Harrison?" He asked, holding up a briefcase. "Yes, who may you be?" I asked. "Well Miss Harrison, I am the representative of your belated great great grandmother Bellatrix Harrison. I am here to fulfill her last wishes." Sighing I opened the door and let him in. Once he was inside I closed the door and invited him into the living room to sit down. I sat in the armchair while he sat on the couch across from me. Sitting the briefcase on the coffee table , then he clears his throat.
"So what the Will entails is that the day after your twentieth birthday you are to receive two Grimoire and a letter from Lady Bellatrix. But you do have the option to deny the Will." After hearing him out, I took a minute before answering.
"To be completely honest, I'm not sure why she would be giving me two grimoires, but I will accept it." With that the gentleman smiled and then it faded to a sorrowful face.
"Well my lady, I must go. I have spent my time here and thank you for allowing me in." He said as stood up.
"But there is one last thing I want to say to you... I'm so sorry for your grievances that will soon transpire." He said walking out the door, leaving an old vintage envelope with a wax seal that was of a tribal sun. care fully opening the envelope to take out the letter. Unfolding the paper I began to read.Dear my lovely granddaughter Anabella,
If you received the two grimoires and this letter then you are off age and that I've gone into the world beyond. Now it is time for your true potential to be awakened. The powers that lie dormant within your blood.
My dear Ann, though we are human, we are also like the kings of Shizume City. Every two generations in our family tree there is a daughter born with the possibility for great power; this was the curse that the Colorless king of the past had punished us with. for he feared our potential. You may be prosecuted, or people may try to contain you for your powers, but do not fret for I have seen your future and it shines bright like an unquenchable flame. There is a young man that I foreseen in your past, present, and future. He will protect you. Once you activate the grimoires you must keep them away because they only can be used by you and no one else.
P.S. I am sorry for what is to come my child..."Those words are supposed to mean. Why do these people That I have never met keep apologizing for? The next day I got my answer, when two police officers were at my doorstep telling me both my parents had died in a plane crash which had no survivors. After putting them to rest, I mourned for a week before I decided to move back to Shizume City. I have yet to touch the grimoire as they still lay in the briefcase the man had left. Now here I am in Shizume City on a back street with no water to put in my coolant tank. Just great... "Oi, lady, you need some help."
