Chp 4. These days

"You are fired"

When I mean it crushed my walls, it crushed me in every way.  My limbs went numb, I blinked twice and in a spilt minute I felt dizzy

My hands pulled my handbag out of my seat and I rushed to the elevator.
I heard my name from behind but I was too dead in mind to respond.

Yes, my work meant a lot to me. But I wasn't upset about being fired from work, I am upset because the very person I had begun to love and trust put me in my place today.

"I can't believe Stephan did this to me" I said to the air
For the first time I fell in love with a total stranger I met at a pub, and I get a blow in the face in not more than three days after that night

I flag down a taxi since I didn't come with my car and headed to christys resident, hoping she will must have left my apartment already

my eyes got wet from the tears that were about to spill out. I compose myself and looked out of the car. The vehicle zooming past buildings and people walking

I guess I needed to be fired to earn some space and focus on my life.
I've gone through a lot and I've been too broken by friends, my work and even my family

I tell the driver to turn into drive way. I paid him and got out of the taxi, I knock softly on the door.

"Who is it"

A males voice, I guess it's one of her mans. 

"A friend of Chris" I replied immediately

The door unlocked and reveled a tanned build man

"Uhmm hi, I'm Nelly'. Is christy home?"

"She's at her balcony" he replied, flexing his shoulders for me to see

"Oh okay" I replied entering her house and turning away quickly from the man

I stroll to her balcony and immediately she sees me, I burst into uncontrollable tears.

I didn't know why I felt so emotional all of a sudden But Chris is the only person I can tell anything to

"Heey, best why all this sobbing?"

"I was fired"

"Whoah" "how"

"Stephan did it" I said sniffing and wiping my eyes

She thought for a while and told me to calm down and explain further.
I did explain it from when I got to work and how I got to her house

"Too bad, that guy is an a**hole, it's done okay? You could leave on my earnings till you get something to do alright?, then we teach that idiot a lesson"  she said while tapping her foot on the floor

I couldn't hide my joy at this point, I didn't really need her money because I had enough and at the same, she knows I spend a lot.  Hers will be of help also and don't call me selfish.

Stephan is probably happy that he got me off his neck after that night. But he doesn't know what's going down soon.
I guess these days will keep getting bad for me

Jacob's POV

That lady, who was she
I fired her because she was weak and distracted. I'm strictly about business

Or was I wrong for firing her? I don't have her records but why did she leave in a hurry
Most employees will beg to death to have their jobs back but instead she left without looking back, did I do the right thing

I overheard from the other workers that she is Nelly and one of the oldest employees in this construction firm

My phone beeps, I pull it out and there is a message from my secretary back in Paris.

Just great, it's barely a day here and I'm already getting complains about the share holders

I notify Richard that I'll be back in a week time. 

As I walk to my car, I see a familiar purse on the floor
I pick it up and open its content

A work ID, mentos, pain killer pills and a photograph attached to its side

"Nelly"
It belongs to her, it may have fell from her bag

I'll keep it and give it to her when I can but for now, I need to get to Paris.

I need feedback from you guys please I wouldn't be able to continue writing if I don't get votes or comment it makes me feel like I'm just wasting my time

This ended up to be a very short chapter
