Chapter 6: Turned Tables.

The next morning Peyton walked into the office with a complete new view of things. Stark was no longer a priority. In fact she could care less if she ever saw the pig again. And she intended to flaunt Christian in front of his face as much as possible. She sat down at her desk and sipped her coffee, for once in her short acquaintance with Stark she felt like she had the upper hand. Oh how sweet it was.

Stark walked into the office, he could barely keep his eyes open. He didn't sleep a wink last night. He kept thinking about what Christian was doing with Peyton. Mostly if Peyton wanted what he was doing. He couldn't help but feel angry. He had been shown up but possibly the only other man on earth that was any competition at all. How was it possible! Stark was always one step ahead of Christian. Was this some sick joke fate was playing on Stark for always getting what he wanted? What if all he wanted was Peyton. Even worse what if he couldn't have her. No that would be impossible. He would have her eventually. Once he won her over, he was never letting her go. He knew now she was more than just another roll in the hay. He had to have her as his. For good, she was so pure. So innocent and he wanted her for his very own. He wouldn't rest until she was his.

Peyton smiled politely as she watched a very tired Stark come into the office and sit down. He put his head between his hands and rested on his elbows. He scrubbed his hands over his face. He glanced up to see Peyton sipping coffee and looking very cocky. He couldn't help but smile. He liked that look on her. It suited her. Way more than her shy reserved, though he would admit that had it's charm as well.

“Long night?” She asked arching an eyebrow.

He shrugged.

“What can I say? I know how to go all night.” he said winking.

Peyton faked a gag.

“Ew. She is old enough to be your mother.” Peyton said.

Stark sat up straight and looked very serious.

“I didn't take Chris- I mean Mrs. Harrison home. I was referring to my drinking, resulting in my hang over.” Stark said sternly.

“With just a hint of sexual innuendo I suppose.” Peyton countered.

Stark grinned.

“I wasn't thinking like that, but now that you mention it. Why don't we see how long it takes you to wear me out. Sweet cheeks.” He said.

Peyton rolled her eyes.

“Yeah whatever, look I have a lot of stuff to do this morning. I have all the reports to examine and I have a lot of interviewing to do, not to mention we have a meeting with the board in about forty five minutes. So get your head out of your ass. I won't have you embarrass me in front of them.” Peyton said all business.

Stark chuckled.

“Only if you agree to have lunch with me.” He said.

Peyton rolled her eyes.

“Sorry I have further arrangement.” She said.

“Yeah with who?” He asked.

“Christian.” She answered before walking out of the office.

Stark felt the jealousy bubble up in him. So Christian was after Peyton after all. Well he would fix that.

Peyton walked into the board meeting. It was suppose to start five minutes ago and Stark was no where to be found. She had called him, text him; and nothing. He hadn't been in the office when she had come back to the office after telling him she had a lunch date with Christian. It looked like she was going to have to do this meeting on her own. But Stark was going to get a piece of her mind when ever he decided to show up. How was she suppose to show the board that she made a good partner for him if he didn't even care to show up. It was disastrous. On the bright side, at least he couldn't do anything to embarrass her if he wasn't there.
