Flashback to 3 months ago, before Diego was adopted and moving in together.

"Babe, we have to call Lupe to tell her about us. She needs to know that we are back together and I totally can fly her in to have a talk with us. It has been months since the last phone call, i'm sure you guys missed each other, she is your mom after all and you told me that she is the only one you have left, so just try to reconcile with her, will you?"

"What if she talks shit about us again? I don't want to hear those hurtful words and especially to you..."

"Hey, maybe she already changed her mind about us and waiting for you to call once you are ready? Just give her call, it's the least we can do, respect her as an elder to inform her what we have been doing all these while."

"Alright, grab me my phone."

Jul and Val sat down and patiently waiting for Lupe to answer the call, Jul is tapping her feet and biting her nail but Val reassured her everything is gonna be fine. 

After a few rings...

"Hi Lupe, it's me."

Lupe raised her voice and looking annoyed, "You took months to call me back, are you trying to go against me now?!"

"No Lupe, I wanted to make sure that you are cool enough to talk. I don't want to hear those hurtful words from you, at least spare a thought for Val..."

"So you are still with that girl despite what I have told you to break up with her!"

"Mama, I told you what me and Val have is real. We did break up and didn't talk to each other for months, Val did move on but eventually we still have find our way back to each other life because you know why? Soulmates are meant for each other. Val told me to give you a call because she wanted us to reconcile, She really wants you to give us your blessing..."

Val still remained silent but she held Jul's hand tightly and looked at Lupe with hopes in her eyes.

"Mrs Valdés..."

"I need a word with you in private, Valentina."

Val was caught by surprise by Lupe's request, she kisses Jul's cheek and mouthed "It's alright, I will be right back" then she took the phone to the balcony.

"Hi Mrs Valdés, I really like... no I mean I love your daughter very much. We didn't mean to upset you, but our love for each other is real. It's the 21st century and the world is evolving, same sex marriages are getting recognised and even Mexico legalised it since 2010. Love should not be defined by genders; we are women but it doesn't mean all women need men as their life partner, it just happened that Jul fell in love with me. I know you think we are still young, trying to explore our sexuality so this relationship is not gonna last but trust me, your daughter is the love of my life. I see my future with her so please give us your true blessing, Jul really respects you and you wants to see her be happy right?"

Lupe closed her eyes with tears streaming down. She knows that Jul is an independent girl, and has not let her down or worried about before. Her mija has finally grown up and is dating a girl, initially she could not accept the fact because due to the lack of knowledge towards the LGBT+ community. That last phone call made her open up her mind, she went to do some research and had some understanding of LGBT+ community, so she has decided to let go of her traditional thoughts and embrace the sexuality of her mija. She learnt that support and love are the most important things towards LGBT+ members , she wants her mija to be proud and happy.

"Mrs Valdés, are you alright? Do I pass the phone to Jul...?"

"No, wait. Valentina, do you mean every words you said?"

"Of course, Mrs Valdés! No doubt my love for Jul is real."

"If you ever break her heart, you know what I'm gonna do to you..."

"Omg Mrs Valdés, does that mean you approved of us?! "

"Yes Valentina, for the sake of Jul's happiness. I agreed to this relationship, don't even think of making her cry or break her heart. Your declaration of love for her has touched me, I can sense the passion and sincerity from you. No wonder Jul loves you that much because you are a hella charmer."

Val fist bump in the air, she cannot wait to share this good news with Jul. Before she ends the call, she invited Lupe to fly over and have dinner with them but Lupe has work commitment so she can't leave. Val promised to bring Jul back to visit her on their next term break. She thanked Lupe for her blessing and hung up the call.

Val practiced her poker face before she walks back into the living room, Jul immediately stood up from the couch and wait for Val to speak up. She saw that the phone call has ended and she couldn't read Val's expression, "Val, What did Lupe say to you? Did she say anything mean to you?"

Val sat Jul down, "I promise Lupe to bring you back on next term break..."

"Whatttt, what do you mean by that?!"

"We are going back together.... as a couple."

"Val, you are not kidding with me right now?!"

"No Jul, your mom gave us her blessing. I invited her to come over but she has work commitment so I promise her to bring you back the next time round."

Jul cannot believe it, "How did you convince her? The last time round, she didn't react very well when she was told about it...."

"I might have bribe her with my ways..."

They kiss for the longest time and the rest was history...

"Hey babe, you know what? My papa has previously agreed to buy me a villa so why not we start hunting for one and use this opportunity to settle down for the time being since we have like a year and half to complete our program."

"I can't wait to move in together with you."
