Chapter 7

The sky's beautiful blue began to fade into a mixture of oranges and yellows. Cold air rushed through the trees and leaves, creating a euphonious melody. Autumn was arriving, and Inuyasha and his colleagues were blissfully enjoying the scenery around them. Who wouldn't? As more brown leaves began to fall to the ground, the group let out a unanimous sigh. Finally, a moment of peace.

Inuyasha raises his head into the air and releases a deep, angry growl. A familiar sent began to wrap itself around his nostrils. Anger ran throughout his blood, horrible memories resurface into his mind. The group tenses and reaches for their weapons. The monk grabs his staff and the strangely dressed priestesss grabs her bow. Peace was nonexistent in a world filled with demons, huh?

"Sesshomaru," he whispers, baring his fangs. His older brother was coming closer and closer to them. His scent was different, it was mixed with a dangerous demonic smell that reeked of unspeakable horror. Was Sesshomaru coming to kill him or steal Tessaiga, his sword, again?

"Inuyasha, is Sesshomaru near?" Kagome, the priestess, asks as she places an arrow into her bow. She shuts her eyes and tries to sense the areas around her. She also felt a very strange aura but couldn't figure out what it was. A mage, perhaps?

"He's coming towards us," Inuyasha says, narrowing his eyes, "Stay alert, everyone."

The group nodds and follow as Inuyasha darts towards the direction of his older brother's scent. Each held a weapon and wore a serious facial expression, but it was obvious they were all a bit worried. Sesshomaru was the most powerful demon of the lands. If he wanted to, he could kill all of them in a few minutes. Their best hope of survival would be to attack him all at once.

"Sesshomaru smells more evil than usual," Inuyasha says, "But, Rin and Jaken are still with him."

Inuyasha places a hand on his sword and draws it from its case. He jump into the air and begins to summon 'Wind Scar' in the direction of Sesshomaru scent. He was only a few yards ahead but it would be best to sneak up on him. Facing Sesshomaru head on would be very difficult.

"KYAHH!!" A soft, feminine voice screams in the direction of Inuyasha's attack. As fog and debris begin to clear, Inuyasha spots a single girl surrounded by a barrier. Rin and Jaken stand besides her, they all look very confused. The girl holding the barrier collaspes and faints, cuts begin to appear on her body.

"[Y/n]-san!" Rin screams, grabbing onto the unconscious female. She shoots a glare towards Inuyasha and his group. "Why would you attack [Y/n]-san!?"

"A girl?" Miroku, the monk, questions, "I thought Sesshomaru was here."

"His scent, it's really strong. He has to be here."

Kagome runs towards [Y/n], the rest of the group follows. Guilt renders them speechless, why would Inuyasha attack a human? "Are you stupid? It's just a woman."

"She actually smells like Sesshomaru, but worse." Inuyasha says, scrunching his nose in disgust. He walks over to [Y/n] and plops next to her, observing her figure. His head hurt, the smell was so awful he couldn't even stand close to her. Man, did Sesshomaru lick her or something? Disgusting.

Until suddenly, he freezes. He takes a closer look at the girl's features and grits his teeth.

"Shit," Inuyasha says, pushing himself off the gound, "That's Sesshomaru's mate. Look at her kimono."

The group gasp. [Y/n] was wearing an identical kimono to Sesshomaru, a sign of being the mate of a demon lord. Blood drenched the cloth and it was tathered. Even though she put up a barrier to fend against Inuyasha's Wind Scar, she still took extreme damage. [Y/n] was merely a human. Inuyasha groans. He was screwed, absolutely screwed. Today was his death day.
