GAWD this is hard! I've rewritten this twice! It's so hard just writing a normal cute fanfic where nothing cool happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~lostintheclouds321

I slide open the window and crawl through. Lucy is on her bed crying. I crawl over to her and put my arm around her shoulder. "Hey Luce," I whisper.
Her shoulders bounce up and down from crying, she breaks free and sets her head in my lap curling into a ball. A piece of paper falls to the ground. I don't pick it up because Lucy is on my lap but I can read some words. It's from her father.
I stroke her hair, "It's alright, he loved you."
"But he's gone, I was gone, for seven years!" She whimpers.
"But he believed you would come back."
"I was too late," she whispers to herself, "Can we just stay like this for a while?" she says so quietly I can barely hear it.
"Yeah, I'll be here for you," I say reasurringly.
"I-" her voice catches.
"What is it Lucy?" I ask.
"I," she stops again. But this time on purpose. As if she's lost the courage to say it.
"Shh, don't speak. Trust me, it will be okay," I say, knowing how she feels.

Lucy POV

I felt as if my heart was barely holding on. As if, if it were even slightly shoved. It would fall. I felt as if I had been walking forever. As if I were on a long perilous journey that would never end.
Overwhelmed is what describes it. So many different emotions at once. My love for Natsu and my grief for my father. I feel as if I could scream, "I love you Natsu," and he wouldn't hear it.
A tear rolls down my face. I need to stop pretending, I open my mouth to speak, "I do, I trust you Natsu," I feel him relax. I slowly close my eyes and drift to sleep.

*1 Month Later*

Natsu POV

"Hey Lucy," I say.
She looks up from her milkshake, "Yeah Natsu? You want to go on a job?" she questions.
"No, it's just," I pause, "When you were crying a month ago you were trying to say something."
Her face goes bright red, "Oh, yeah, I remember that."
"What was it?" I scratch my head awkwardly and grin.
She looks me in the eyes, "You really want to know?" she looks down.
"Yeah, I'll always be here for you so you can tell me," another grin.
She wraps her arms around my neck, I feel as if she's going to hug me, "I was going to tell you this," she brings her head closer to mine and then brings her mouth to my ear, "I love you."
