Lucy POV

Everything was dark. Then I opened my eyes. I saw them screaming and I saw the runes and magic circles, but if I closed my eyes, everything was so peaceful. If I focus hard enough I could hear birds chirping and my friends laughing.

I opened my eyes and those thoughts went away immediately. Nothing was making sense, why couldn't I hear my friends, why couldn't I hear my boyfriend, Natsu, who was screaming in my face crying and begging me to get up. I assumed we won. I saw the Master looking proud as ever. I closed my eyes and returned to my peaceful place where me and my friends were laughing. Then reality hit me. I, Lucy Heartfilia, had gone deaf. I shut my eyes and went into the darkness and dreamless sleep.

Natsu POV

I yelled in her face,crying. Why wouldn't she get up? She was stronger than this. She slowly opened her eyes, looked around in confusion and then closed her eyes again. In less than two minutes her body went limp and I assumed that she had gone to sleep.

*two days later*

"Natsu it's not healthy to stay here. You should go home. You've been here for two days. Lucy is strong, she practically led the battle against Zeref herself. She's stronger than you think, now go home!" Erza demanded

Right when I was about to leave I heard a whisper, "Natsu, don't leave."

I ran to her room, "Luce! Are you alright?"

Lucy POV

Natsu, thank god he was here. I felt safer in his presence. I reached up to hug him. He didn't say anything did he? I looked at him and whispered even though I wasn't sure what I was saying, "Natsu Dragneel, live your life without me. I beg of you!" at least I hoped I had said that.

I was just going to bring him down. He started shouting in my face but I didn't mind, I simply closed my eyes and went back to my happy place. When I opened my eyes, Natsu was talking to the doctor and he had a very serious face on, then it contorted with sadness, they were probably talking about my condition. I sighed and went to my happy place again.

Slowly, I feel asleep. When I woke up I had forgotten how to scream because when I opened my eyes there was a man with a knife. He lifted it up then brought it down with such a powerful force, at that moment everything came back to me. I let out what I thought was to be a blood curdling scream. Then slowly everything went black. But this time I knew it wasn't sleep. I had a feeling this was permanent, I looked at my assassin, and I smiled as I whispered the words, "Tell Natsu to live out his life and that I live him, but honestly he should just forget about me all together, thank you.

Natsu POV

Erza was right to force me back home. When the bed was in reach I immediately collapsed in a deep slumber.

*one day later*

Wow! I must've slept for at least a day. I got up, poured some juice, got dressed and then left to the guild, since Happy was no longer in the house, I went alone.

When I got to the guild everyone was wearing black and looked depressed. No one was smiling, not even Mirajane! "What happened? Did someone die?" I was still angry about what Lucy said to me.

They looked at me, then Wendy walked up and hugged me, she whispered a name that only I could hear with my dragon ears, "Lucy."

I collapsed on the floor when Erza walked up to me and handed me a note.

"Hello,

I am the person who murdered Lucy, she wanted me to leave a message so here goes nothing,

Tell Natsu to live out his life and that I love him, but honestly he should just forget about me all together, thank you

Happy? Those were her last words.

When I finished it I let out a scream and bawled my eyes out. I didn't care that everyone was watching. Because Lucy Heartfilia, the one I was going to propose to had died, and she had died deaf which means she didn't hear anything I had said to her on the battlefield, and now she would never know...
