"Is there a number we can call for your parents?" Mike asked the girl. You knew bringing her home might not have been the best idea, but you couldn't leave her out in the rain like that. "Where's your hair? Do you have cancer?" Dustin asked her. "Did you run away?" Lucas asked.
"Are you in some kind of trouble?" Mike asked. "Is that blood?" Lucas asked, reaching out to her. Mike slapped his hand away and said, "Stop it! You're freaking her out!"
"She's freaking me out!" Lucas exclaimed. "Okay, you guys, let's give her some space." You said, but nobody listened. "I bet she's deaf." Dustin said, then he clapped in her face which made her jump. "Not deaf."
"All right, that's enough, all right? She's just scared and cold." Mike said, which actually surprised you. He walked over to a laundry basket and pulled out a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt. "Here, these are clean." He said, giving them to her. She took off the jacket Mike leant to her and stood up. She grabbed the bottom of her oversized shirt and began to lift it up, earning a reaction out of the boys.
Dustin and Lucas turned around and walked away, while you and Mike reached forward and stopped her. "See over there? That's the bathroom." You said, in a mellow voice. "Privacy. Get it?" Mike said, she looked a bit confused, but picked up the clothes and walked over there anyway. Mike followed her while you went to calm down Dustin and Lucas.
"Hey, think you guys can tone it down a notch before you get us caught?" You asked, slight anger in your voice. "You know this isn't right. We shouldn't have brought her here." Lucas said. "Obviously. But we also couldn't leave her out in the rain, to find whatever Will found." You retorted, when Mike walked back over. "This is mental." Dustin said.
"At least she can talk." Mike said. "She said 'no' and 'yes'. Your three-year-old sister says more." Lucas pointed out. "She tried to get naked." Dustin said. "There's clearly something wrong with her." You said. "Like, wrong in the head." Lucas corrected.
"She just went like..." Dustin exclaimed as he mimicked the motion she used to take off her shirt, accidentally knocking his hat off his head. "I bet she escaped from Pennhurst." Lucas said.
"From where?" Mike asked. "She didn't escape from a nuthouse in Kerley County." You said. Dustin looked at Lucas and asked him, "You got a lot of family there?" "Bite me."
"Seriously though, think about it. That would explain her shaved hair and why she's so crazy." Lucas said, you didn't think he was right. "Why she went like..." Dustin said again, mimicking her.
"She's an escapee is the point. She's probably a psycho." Lucas said. "Like Michael Myers." Dustin said, his eyes widening. "Exactly! We should've never brought her here."
"So you just wanted to leave her out in that storm?" Mike asked, angrily. "Yes! We went out to find Will, not another problem." Lucas responded. "I think we should tell your mom." Dustin said. "I second that." Lucas agreed. "No way." You said, putting your hands over your face. You were annoyed because if Mike listened to you earlier, you probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
"Who's crazy now?" Mike asked Lucas. "How is that crazy?" Lucas asked, frustrated. "'Cause, we weren't supposed to be out tonight, remember?" Mike pointed out. "So?"
"So if I tell my mom and she tells your mom and your mom-" Mike said, which made Dustin and Lucas realize, "Our houses become Alcatraz." Lucas finished. "Exactly. We'll never find Will." Mike said. Now that the boys were a bit more calm, thanks to Mike's reasoning, you decided to give them a plan.
