— chapter four!

( a few hours later )

"what the fuck is this?" a voice exclaimed from behind the duo that had been laughing for hours. But the minute Sam's angry voice met Elizabeth's ears, her smile slowly faded into a solemn expression.

"We were just playing monopoly..." Jack looked confused at their sudden anger.

"monopoly–" Dean seethed, walking over with a stomp in his step, kicking the board across the room and sending the bits and pieces alongside the money flying. "You could've killed sam!"

"You're lucky Castiel intervened when he did or–" Sam ran a hand through his hair.

"Or what?"

All heads snapped towards Lizzy who was looking at the floor, a challenging looks set upon her face, but nevertheless refusing to meet their eyes.

"What did you just say to me?" Sam growled.

"You better learn your place liz." Dean warned, a dangerous ice to his tone.

Lizzy would have been absolutely terrified if she wasn't absolutely certain that they wouldn't hurt her. She knew she was their flesh and blood and they wouldn't do anything to her. But Elizabeth, for the first time, wasn't a hundred percent sure she was safe.

"I'm sorry." She swallowed hard, regret filling her eyes.

"Not to me! To Sam!" Dean shouted, making the girl wince.

"Im sorry, Sam." She looked at him in the eye, grateful that he was too mad to see the glaze on her orbs.

The brothers left the room, still fuming. Elizabeth simply rested her face in her palms and hunched over her crossed legs, letting out a long sigh. "What was I thinking?"

"It's not your fault."  A deep gravelly voice appeared from behind.

"Jesus castiel!" She jumped slightly, seeing the angel. She nevertheless gave him a tired smile.

"They're just... Tired."

"They've been 'tired' since I was born." She grumbled into her palms again.

"I'll go check on them, maybe get them to lay off you for a little bit." The angel  patted her head as an inside joke, before walking off into the boys' direction.

"It's not right. The way they treat you, I mean." Jack scooted next to Liz.

"I know." She moved back a little bit so they were touching shoulders.

"You're not happy here. I can see it." Jack picked at his shoe soul.

"I know." She leaned her head onto his shoulder and the crook of his neck, causing chills to run down the nephilim's spine.

"You're not safe." He mumbled, more to himself. "I want you to be safe."

Lizzy could feel the heat that was rising to his cheeks on hers. But it was more than the innocent way he spoke, or the loving blush that rose to his cheeks, it was the words he spoke.

Honest to whatever god was in her favors, Lizzy lived and died for every word that came out of Jack's mouth. They were always so sweet, so loving. They were always there to make her feel safe and special and needed.

That's why she looked up at him through her lashes, and pressed her lips to the line between his cheeks and his jawline.

He was completely red, albatross in his stomach and on the verge of a heart attack from how fast his heart was beating.

"Do you think i should leave?" She whispered, looking back down to the ground, when the moment had passed .

"They don't like me very much either." He picked at the waxed wood flooring.

"Do you think we should leave?" She whispered again, but this time she looked at him in the eye so hard he felt like he, the niphilim, was at her mercy.

"Yes."

All she did was hold his arm and his side as tight as she could, completely burying her face into the crook of his neck.

"Thank you."
