"Boo you suck!" Jay yelled as I missed another 3 pointer.
"Shut up," I yelled back and picking up the rebound. I grabbed the basketball and chucked it at his head, which he ducked.
"Haha, chill Skylar!" Connor yelled from behind Jay.
"Yeah Sky, next time you try something like that you better watch out." Jay said cockily. I took off his stupid camo country hat from his head and threw it on the ground.
"Oh yeah? Do something." I dared him.
"Wait! Sky, don't egg him on. He'll seriously do something." My friend Kayley warned.
I laughed, "I'm not scared of him." I said smirking.
"You should be," Jay mumbled and shoved me. I pushed him back, he wasn't much bigger than me. He was a twig.
"Hey, what's going on?" Mr. Fern yelled as he walked into the gym. When I turned my attention back to Jay, it was too late. I know I already lost the fight then. His fist came in contact with my face, and before I hit the ground I heard everyone around me gasp.
"Fuck you Skylar Mathers! Fuck you!" Jay yelled before getting dragged out of the gym and to the office by Mr. Fern.
I glared as everyone gathered around me, asking if I was okay.
"I'm fine," I yelled standing up. I ran into the locker room and changed into my regular clothes. I saw my reflection in the mirror. I have a black eye now...great.
"Skylar!" I heard Mr. Fern yell from outside the locker room. I grabbed my backpack and walked out, making sure my bangs covered my eye.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Detention. After school to 4:30." He said sternly.
"But-"
"No 'buts'. You know the rules for fighting."
"I didn't even hit him!" I yelled.
Everyone in the class gathered around, taking my defense.
"Yeah, she really didn't," May said.
"Yeah Mr. Fern. Didn't you see how hard he hit her? She's the victim!" Connor yelled.
"It takes two to tango," Mr. Fern said then left the class.
"What a faggot," I muttered.
"Seriously, are you okay? You might have a concision or something." Connor asked.
"I'm. Fine." I said. "Seriously, I'm okay." The dismissal bell rang and I walked to the detention room. Today has not been my day.

"4:29. One more minute." I mumbled, watching the clock.
"Shut up!" Jay yelled from across the room.
"You shut up! You might not wanna show up to school tomorrow, you'll get your ass beat." I warned him.
"By who? Nobody cares about you."
"Connor will. He told me he would," I said and glared at him.
"Connor don't care about you. He even told me. He said he's just nice to you so he can eventually fuck you. But I mean, who would wanna fuck you?" Jay said rudely.
I took a deep breath and stood up. The bell ringing stopped me from hurting him.
"Fuck you Jay." I yelled as I walked out the door.
"Sky! Wait!" I heard a familiar voice.
"What Connor!" I turned around and snapped at him.
"Whoa, what'd I do?" he asked.
"Nothing. What are you still doing here?" I asked as I continued to walk.
"My practice just ended. Do you need a ride home?" He asked.
"No, no it's okay. I can walk again," I said without thinking.
"Walk? You walked to school this morning? What the hell Sky. You're dad wasn't home again?"
"No." I muttered and walked out the door.
"Skylar, let me drive you home. Please." Connor begged. "It's been a rough day for you."
"No."
"Skylar, get in the car." He said as I walked past it.
"No."
"Sky, don't make me do this." Connor warned.
"Do what? Ahh! Put. Me. Down." I said sternly as he threw me over his shoulder.
"Nope," he said as he put me in the passengers seat.
"Connor I-"
"Whoa, what happened to your eye?!" Connor yelled.
"Drive Connor," I muttered.
"Jay did that?" He asked.
"What do you think?" I said sarcastically.
"Wow, I didn't know it was that bad... I would've beat the shit out of him if I saw that." He mumbled, flooring the gas.
"Yeah right," I said. "You don't care."
"What? Skylar, are you crazy? I do care. Ever since my mom let you move into our home, I've cared."
Memories from a year ago filled my head. Dad getting another DUI and being charged for child neglect forced me to go into a foster home. Which was Connor's home. That's when I first met him. We we're so close, I liked him so much. He was the first person that paid attention to me, that wanted to stay with me. The first person that made me laugh or smile in a long time. He was my best friend. He was my first kiss...I swore we had a thing. But sooner or later I had to go back home. And the next time I saw Connor was at school with a girl, kissing that girl. Carrie.
And it hurt. Really bad. I was replaced once again. I learned that nobody wants me. Nobody. But why? Is it the way I act, or am I not pretty enough? Am I not nice enough or worthy enough? I just don't understand, and I never will. How come everyone around me is so happy and love their lives, and I'm just there. Everything bad happens to me. I swear.
"Skylar! Why are you crying?! What's wrong?" Connor's voice filled my head. His car stopped in my driveway.
"I don't know Connor. You tell me. What's wrong? Everything is wrong, everything." I muttered and got out the car.
