Meet Rose Momsen
Wednesday October 10: 6 days before the world ended.
6:26 pm
"What time did you come home last night?" Mum gives me a serious look, I couldn't do anything except tell her the truth. We sat at the dinner table with my dad. Mum to the left and dad to the right.
"Uh around 11:00 pm?" I say uncertain.
"That's very late" She starts.
Trying to stay quiet, I couldn't help but answer back, "Mum that's not late."
"Excuse me?"
I stayed silent. I looked over to the right, dad gave me a sympathetic look. I roll my eyes and look at my mum again.
"Sorry?"
"Do you understand that your future needs to be set now. You need to-"
I ignored her, I was too busy playing with my food to even listen to crap that she was saying. I didn't care about my future. I didn't want to be a lawyer, following my parents. I want to be what I want to be but mum can't except that.
"Are you even listening to me Roselyn?" She scowls. "Yes mum." I mutter.
"Sweetheart maybe can we talk about this later? It would be best." My dad suggests.
My father was the wise one out of the three of us. And that's why I could talk to him more than mum. I wish it wasn't like that.
"Sometimes I think ever since you started dating that Teo kid you've become worthless."
I was used to it. She was always like that. Calling me trash, embarrassing me, Mum was always like this.
"Carol that's enough" Father warns.
"No it's fine dad. Have a good time at the benefit tonight. See you in the morning." I get up from my seat, kiss my father on the cheek and walk away. Sliding my feet on the marble floor, run up the dark chocolate brown wooden stairs and made my way to my room.
My house wasn't the size of a castle. Teo likes to think it is, most of my friends do. The house was big, big enough to get lost in. It's pretty funny actually. My parents are wealthy, and sometimes mum lets it go to her head.
I shut my door and threw myself onto my bed.Soon enough, dad came up to let me know he was leaving and I made that chance to call Teo.
The phone rang a couple of times until the answering machine answered. I frowned. I really wanted to talk to him, to see him.
After 5 minutes my phone rang.
"Hey babe?" His voice rang through the phone.
It took me sometime to answer. "Hey? Um are you busy?" My voice sang shaky.
"No. What's wrong?"
"I really need to talk to you."
"I'll be there in 10" He says finally.
