Every time you close your eyes
Your body freezes in fright
The monsters have invaded your space
Their screams, the only voices in sightThey tell you, you're not good enough
That you're anxiety is your breath
So you eat up all their bluff
Until it drives you to deathSo you keep your light on at night
You check under your bed before you sleep
You close your windows tight
And the light is yours to keepNow you wait for the voices
You're ready for the fight
Your bed is your battleground
You swallow your frightThe voices do not arrive
Or maybe they haven't left
And the screams start filling the room
While the world silently sleptThe only thing left to do
Is what you have deemed wise
So you let the voices wreck you
Until the sun begins to riseEveryday that the cycle repeats,
A new horror passes
And enough tears have been shed
But was the monster under your bed
Or inside your head?
