ignore my name

my roots will run deep into what i call my past.
slowly and precisely ruining the dirt around it.
chasing any plants away and killing any sign of life.
i will wither alone, dried up and empty.

i'll twist and turn until you have given up.
my limbs will go every which way.
then we'll see how long you can last.
my rings inside are rather small,
but my bark still grows rather tall.

i'm bullet wounded and still growing.
still growing and still taking risks.
i'll whisper in the wind a secret note that goes
"we all will avoid the inevitable"
