I walk to the bus stop, still curious as to how Josh and Cameron's date went. Neither one of them texted me last night, even though they both told me they would, so I don't know anything about it. I plan to ask Josh on the bus since we usually sit together anyway. I'll probably ask Cameron in class or over text if I don't get the chance at school.
The bus finally arrives, screeching to a halt, and opening it's doors. I step on, walking down the aisle and taking my seat, next to Josh.
"Hey," he says, smiling.
"Hey. How's it going?" I ask.
"It's good. How about you?" he asks, running a hand through his curly, blonde hair, ruffling it a little.
"Fine, but you never told me how your date with Cameron went last night! So, how'd it go?" I say, genuinely curious.
His face turns a little red and he looks away from me, glancing out the window and coughing a little, before turning to look at me again.
"It went well. She gave me her number," Josh explains, looking down, but still smiling.
"That sounds great, but I thought you already had her number. How did you ask her out over text if you didn't already have her number?" I ask, a little confused.
"Oh, I asked her through snapchat. We used to talk all the time on snapchat, but now that I have her number we've been texting," he shrugs, explaining.
"Oh, okay. That makes sense," I reply, not really knowing what to say.
He just nods, smiling, and turning to stare out the window again.
I take my phone out of my back pocket, my earbuds already connected to it, and putting my earbuds in my ears. I play the song, "Big Plans," by Why Don't We and adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
I tap my fingers on my leg to the beat of the music, staring off into space.
Most people think that I'm antisocial since I zone out so much, but in reality, I'm just really socially awkward. Usually, I just don't know what to say or do when I'm with people, so I most likely end up spacing out. Thinking about what? I have no idea.
I finally realize that we've arrived at school when Josh shakes me a little, his hand on my arm.
I grab my gym bag, filled with my completed homework and clothes to change into during gym class, and stand, making my way off of the bus.
I walk into the school, Josh walking beside me.
"Hey, uh, I'm gonna go. I'll see you later though. Love you," Josh says, glancing over at his friends before smiling at me, giving me a brief hug.
I watch him walk towards his friends, a group mainly consisting of boys in our grade.
I shake my head, bringing myself back to reality. I walk up the stairs, heading towards my locker, so I can get everything necessary for first, second, and third period, including my lunchbox since lunch is right after third period.
I grab everything I need and shut my locker, jumping a little when I see Ethan's face.
"Jeez, Ethan. You scared the crap out of me. I didn't know you were there," I say, my hand on my chest.
He just laughs and replies with, "I know. That was kinda the point."
He throws in a quick wink, and at first, I'm not sure if he actually did or if I'm hallucinating. After I come to the conclusion that he did, I decide to just brush it off.
"He probably does that to all the girls," I think to myself.
"Sarah, you okay?" Ethan asks, a somewhat amused look on his face.
"Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?" I reply, a little confused.
"You were just zoning out, so I wanted to be sure that you're okay," he explains.
I laugh a little, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"Well, I'm fine. I just zone out a lot," I shrug.
A small smile forms on my lips when he gently places his hand on my forearm before walking away. My eyes watch as he walks away and heads into his first period. I rest my forehead on my closed locker, letting out a breath I didn't realize I had been holding.
I pull myself away from my locker, walking to my first period. I take my place in my assigned seat, which is placed in between Julian Romaro and Cassady Lupar.
Julian has strawberry blonde hair, deep-blue eyes, and pale skin. And let's not forget that she's one of the most popular girls in our grade, even though I don't really understand why. She's fairly pretty according to modern society's beauty standards, although I really don't like her as a person. She isn't the nicest, especially compared to Cassady who happens to be one of the shyest and kindest people I know, as well as the smartest. From what I know about her that is.
Since she's so shy, she doesn't really talk much, but we've talked a little and even partnered up for a few assignments. She seems to be pretty nice and she's actually really smart.
When I sit down Cassady is already in her seat, per usual, but Julian isn't even in the room yet. I'm a little surprised because both Julian and Cassady usually arrive in the classroom before me. Nonetheless, I glance over at Cassady for a moment. She smiles at me and I smile back, nothing out of the ordinary.
Cassady is pretty too, with her medium brown hair and caramel brown eyes. Her thick, black glasses frame her eyes, as well as a few strands of hair, framing her face. She has freckles scattered across her face, not so many that it's overwhelming but just enough that you can acknowledge their existence.
Julian struts in, her loud, obnoxious voice filling the room. Cassady glances up at the sound before returning to her work, probably some type of extra credit or something.
Julian begins to walk in our direction before finally taking her place in her seat, arranging her things to her liking. I glance over at her, quickly looking away. The teacher begins talking, but I'm not really paying attention. I'm too distracted by my own thoughts to listen to what she's saying.
