People may not believe it but Dean wasn't the only one who came back from hell. A while back after a hunt gone wrong, you ended up making a deal to save a close friend. After wards you couldn't speak and were mute. So now you go day to day dealing with the trauma from hell.
I'm gonna make a part two.
The idea behind this is that you are a hunter and you had a partner who one day nearly gets killed in a hunt gone wrong. You sell your soul in order to save him and only get two years. Your time runs out, and after years spent in hell Gabriel saves you. You still have scars from the most recent torture you went through in hell which leaves you mute. You spend a few weeks at Bobby's in a kinda suicidal depressed state until Sam and Dean come along. You end up going on a hunt after that and become best friends with them.

I dug up the patch of dirt and grabbed a small box from my bag. In a hurry I buried it and stood up. "Alright. Come on you son of a bitch! Let's get this over with!" I shouted.
"Impatient much?" A beautiful brunette appeared before me with her eyes black. "What does a hunter want with little old me?"
"My friend. Jacob Simmons. He's dying." I explained, trying to contain the tears that threatened to spill.
"Yeah I know. And you want me to save him. Blah blah blah. You hunters are so predictable." She sighed and came forward. "But you see your buddy has killed a lot of demons. The boss wants to keep him. So i'm sorry but no can do." She went to leave but I stopped her.
"Please." I pleaded. "I can't just let him die! I'll do anything!"
She thought for a small bit before smirking down at me. "How bout we make a deal? Your soul for your buddy's? And I'll even give you..." She thought again for a second. "Two years."
I stood there shocked. I felt the anger boil up in me but I didn't let it out. "Alright." I muttered. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her in for a kiss. After a few seconds I pulled away and she smirked.
"Have fun with the time you have left." And with that she was gone.
I raced to my car and sped off towards where Jacob and I had been hiding out. When I got there I swung open the front door. "Jacob! Where are you?" I called, looking around. I found him in the living room packing his duffel bag. "Hey. What are you doing?"
"Did you think I wouldn't realize what you did?" He questioned, not looking up at all.
My heart stopped for a second and I knew I had been found out. It was silent for a bit before I spoke up. "I was hoping to at least last for a week." I replied, sitting down in a chair at the dinning table.
He grabbed his bag along with the keys to his car and walked out. He stopped in the door way and turned to look over his shoulder at me. "You couldn't have at least asked?" He sounded absolutely livid.
"I was going to but I knew you would say no." I raised up to my feet and walked over to him. "If I hadn't then you'd still be dying on the floor in the bedroom. There was no way I was just going to sit back and let that happen!"
"Yeah and look where that's gotten you!" He shouted back. There was more silence as I turned and grabbed a beer from the fridge. "How long did you get?"
"Two years. It was more than I expected considering it was you I was saving. Crowley's mighty pissed." I tried to joke but he just shook his head. "Look I'm sorry okay? But if I had the chance I'd do it again. You're family to me."
