Goodbye My Love

He sat there by
the hospital bed,
for hours on end
broken and hopeless
the love that had for so
many years nestled
his soul and made him
a better man now reached
out with a clawed hand
about his neck
as he struggled for breathe
and choked back the tears
his dear Jane now
rested there, her hair now
thin and wane, lay in wisps
over the hospital pillow
her eyes showing no sign
at all that they'll ever open
with eyes swollen, he started
to recall all their precious
moments, like the first
time they met on that long
camero drive, their first date
and first kiss, all their joys
and sorrows, and despite
the aching agony that
consumed his body slowly
seeping into his
subconsciousness,
he gently stroked her hand
and told her the story of
how he fell in love
with her twelve years ago
and many more years after that,
surrendered his all to her and
never regretted ever doing so,
gave her a kiss on the head
and said "go to Jesus my love,
I shall surely see you again...soon"
