Bitterness lies
deep within the canyons
of my heart and soul in vain
inhales in my laughter and
exhales out it's pain
even in it's deepest of slumbers
it petrifies me as I lie there
awake at night
like it shot down my confidence
with a semi-automatic pistol
crippled my assertiveness
with slight ease and belittled
my esteem with just
it's mere presence
killed me from within,
crushed my strongholds and
left me weak, zombified me
and stole my peace - made this
young man who only sees the world
in hues, monochromes
black and white
this young man who speaks to himself
at night
this young man who is so angry at the
world and everything in sight
this young man who is a shadow
of his former self
alive but dead on the insideImage credit to the rightful owner
