Ino's POV:

I lay in my bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. He should have been back two weeks ago. A search party has already been dispatched, though they came back with no evidence on where he is. All I can do is wait. I detest the thought of him being dead...

A tear rolls down my cheek, I can't bear to lose anyone else. I just can't.

I sit up startled as my bedroom door swings open. I instinctively take out a kunai from under my pillow, ready to throw it at the intruder.

The light flickers on, making me blinded for a second. I shield my eyes from the sudden bright light.

"Are you going to kill me with that?" an all too familiar voice questions.

"Kakashi!" I shout, throwing my arms around his neck without hesitation. It catches both him and I off guard as I can feel him tense up for a moment. I quickly let go, blushing profusely at my impulsive move.

"Looks like someone's happy to see me." he teases, chuckling. I notice the heavy bags under his eyes, his eyes drooping as we speak.

"What took you so long?" I ask, trying to pout though a smile overtakes my attempt. He lays on my bed and closes his eyes.

"I'm sorry, I had to take a different route because rogue ninjas were following me." he explains, his voice drifting off. After a few seconds his chest begins to fall lighter. I sigh, taking a blanket and putting it gently over him. I make my way to the couch, getting myself comfortable. Finally, I'm able to sleep knowing he's safe.

"I feel so flattered you came to me right after you reported to the Hokage." I joke, part of me beams.

"Hey, I only came because I heard you started taking extra shifts at the hospital and leaving yourself barely anytime for taking care of yourself. I had to make sure you were alright." he says, pointing an accusing finger at me.

"Guilty as charged, but I'm fine." I say, honestly. Relief is the only thing I can feel at this moment... besides happiness of course.

"Perhaps you were busying yourself because you missed me so much." he teases, a smirk sliding onto his face. I try to suppress the blush that threatens to show on my face... if only he knew...

"You wish." I laugh, taking another bite of the scrambled eggs he made. "When did you learn to cook?" I say, changing the subject.

"Here and there, I just kinda picked it up when I lived alone." he answers. I feel his gaze on me as I take another bite of the eggs. "Plus, I heard ladies like men who can cook." he adds, mischievously.

"Is that so?" I ask, innocently. Before he can reply a loud knock comes from the door. I internally groan. He stands up and opens the door.

"Hi Ino- Kakashi?" I hear a low, smooth voice say.

"Hi, Sai." Kakashi greets, gesturing for him to come in, which he does.

"Goodmorning, Ino." Sai says, giving me a smile. I smile back, giving him a little wave as I swallow the last of my breakfast.

"Hey. What brings you here?" I ask, politely.

"I just wanted to drop off some food, just wanted to make sure you are alright..." he says, I can tell he's trying to say something more, but Kakashi's in the room.

"That's so sweet. Thank you." I say, standing up and taking the paper bag from his hand. He scratches the back of his head before taking a quick glance at Kakashi and I.

"Well I should go... I'll call you later." Sai says, waving before exiting. I stand there with the bag for a moment before placing it on the kitchen counter.

"He seems to like you." I jump, realizing Kakashi is still here, his voice full of amusement.

"You think?" I ask, a blush creeping onto my face. I begin to scrub at the dirty dishes.

"Yeah.. definitely, but I think he's kinda late in the game." I nearly drop the dish I'm washing, realizing that he's right behind me. He snakes his arms around my waist making me freeze.

"K-Kakashi?" I ask, shivering at his touch. He leans in to my neck, breathing in the scent of my hair. I stand still, not daring to make a move.

"I'm just teasing you." he says, unwrapping his hands and chuckling at my tense figure. I give him a scowl.

"So you definitely missed me." he says, teasingly, learning against the counter as if he didn't just do something completely strange.

"Maybe." I reply, shrugging. Staring down at the plates, trying hard to hide my red face.

It's been only a week since Kakashi's been back. Unsurprisingly, he has another mission.

"This mission should only take three days." he informs me as we sit on my couch watching an action film. Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to bother or feel a bit weird that we suddenly hang out on a daily basis.

"You sure? It better not take a week for you to come back." I snort, keeping my eyes on the screen.

"I promise three days, I'll try to make it two." he promises, turning his head as he buries his head into the side of my neck. I shudder at his move, not knowing what I should do.

"What are you doing, Kakashi?" I say, trying to sound casual though my voice falters a little. My heart begins to pound faster.

"Making sure I don't forget your strawberry scent." he replies, smoothly. My mouth hangs open for a second at his words and I can't help but to sit there in complete shock.

"You know, I'll miss you." he states, leaving me to gape even more at his bold words. He looks up, our eyes meeting. His eyes flickering with emotions, emotions I can't comprehend.

My face becomes red, I try to compose myself, failing miserably. Is he trying to tell me something? Or being friendly? Heck I can't take this anymore.

Before I can think, I turn over and straddle him. We sit there in shock for a second, I internally smack myself for doing something so inappropriate. Do I get off...?

"I-I'll miss you too." I stutter, finding the courage to speak. I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug. I feel his arms wrap around my back, sending shivers down my spine.

"You know.. when you didn't come back... I could barely sleep and eat." I confess, I'm startled as he pulls me closer to him.

"I missed you so much, you don't even know." he admits, burying his head into my neck once again.

We sit there, for who knows how long but a while. Just enjoying each other's warmth and embrace. I feel myself getting drowsy as I lay my head on his shoulder. I close my eyes, letting the darkness surround me, pulling him closer.
