A Magical Dream

Chapter 6

This chapter is dedicated to @konansgf ... thank you for motivating me to finish!

Ino's POV:

"How was your sleepover?" Kakashi asks, our shoulders brushing as we walk alongside each other.

I take a moment to breathe in the chilly night air before responding. "It was good," I say with a grin. It was really good. Too good that I can't help but let out a lighthearted laugh.

He cocks his head a little in confusion, "what's so funny?" I almost forget how to breathe normally. The cute action he does makes my mouth grow into an uncontrollable smile.

"Nothing. I'm just really happy." I answer and begin to fidget with my fingers nervously. How was I supposed to tell him my feelings? My mind races, thinking of the many possibilities of what could go wrong.

Maybe he saw me as a younger sister. That wouldn't be a surprise considering how young I am compared to him- I stop in my tracks and take a deep breath remembering how my friends had comforted and reassured me to take this leap of faith.

"Kakashi..." I say, tugging at his sleeve which makes him stop walking. I'm not too sure what to say next so I blurt out a, "thank you." All while unable to meet his eyes.

"For what?"

"For being here."

"Well, I'm glad I'm here." 

I look up at him and am stunned. His silver hair glows under the moonlight and he stares down at me with the kindest eyes. The fear of rejection slowly dissipates as I remember why I came to love him.

"Let's go out," I shout impulsively, afraid of having to repeat myself twice. When I'm met with silence, I tug at his sleeve a little tighter, averting my eyes to the ground, "I want to go out with you." my voice quivers slightly.

I'm afraid and mortified as we stand in silence. I hear him breathe out a sigh and can't help but look up at him. I'm surprised to see him looking up with the back of his hand over his mouth.

"That was supposed to be my line," he says, slowly uncovering his mouth and looks down at me with an embarrassed smile. I freeze, slowly processing his words and suddenly, my cheeks are on fire and I'm staring at him with my mouth hanging open. "ah, I was supposed to ask you out first, but I guess you've beaten me to it."

"You were going to ask me out?" I ask, my hands slapping over my mouth in shock. I sink to a crouch trying to hide the massive grin on my face. After a moment, a thought hits me and I stand back up. "wait, you never told me your answer."

"Yes, Ino Yamanaka. I'll go out with you." Kakashi laughs with one of those laughs that melt my heart. I jump to hug him and feel his arms wrap around me in a tight embrace.

In his arms, I smile remembering how he found me when I was at my lowest and lifted me up.

He taught me to smile and laugh again.

I love this man. I really do.

Dear Readers,

What a surprise, right? I'm ending this book here? Maybe. Maybe I'll write an epilogue, maybe I won't. We'll see! :)

I am honestly not too good at writing stories that have multiple chapters and like to stick with one-shots. Although the first story I released had multiple chapters, it turned out good because I had planned a whole storyline... for this book though, I had to change a lot of things and derailed from my original plan. I am considering rewriting this whole book because a part of me feels like this story deserves more justice than I am giving it, but most likely, I will move on from this and begin to publish other stories!

This was a journey though, I left a lot of empty promises saying I would make this a long book and that I would update more frequently, but I never did and I apologize. I hope though, that you readers will understand!

I want to truly thank all of my faithful readers who have stuck with me even after months of me not updating. I won't lie, updating this book was challenging, but you all have truly motivated me to finish. For that, I give my biggest thank you to you! I hope you all continue to read my stories!
