Chapter 28

                 ~Flashback~

Jayce's POV

"Go run!!"

"Zira we can't leave you here in this forest!" I answered

"There's no time, soon they will catch up"

I hesitated for a moment, just as we were about to run. We heard footsteps nearing.

It's too late, the draconians are here!

We prepared our selves for a battle,
Good thing there's only a dozen of them

The draconians attacked all at once.

"Watch out!" Zira shouted, summoning her sword and aimed at the draconians

I stepped back and hid behind a tree while Zira and her partner slashed their swords towards the draconians.

I was petrified while watching them fight.

"Zira watch out!" I shouted

But it was too late, a draconian slashed her from behind. She suddenly dropped her sword and knelt down. The draconian smiled and prepared for a finishing blow.

Thankfully her partner saw that and killed the draconian with one strike.

I ran towards Zira, "hang in there, we will get out of here"

That became impossible because there's still a handful of them closing up.

If only I listened to my master, I could just summon some earth golems right now and this would not happen!

"You're highness, please get out of here. We will buy you some time to run and call for the palace guards" she said

"I won't leave my best friend, NO!!!!" I answered, tears running down my cheeks

Zira reached for my cheeks "don't cry Jayce, it's all right, this is what I wanted, to protect you. Besides if I die here, it's all right. I can finally be with my parents."

"No!!! I won't leave you!!!"

"Jayce listen to me!! Whatever happens I want you to promise me...promise me that you will live your life without regrets, promise me that you will grow stronger so that you can avenge me"

My tears kept falling down.

"Promise me!!!!"

I wiped my tears away "I- I promise" I answered

She smiled. My tears ran down my cheeks again because I realized that will be the last time that I will see that smile.

"Go"

I stood up, my legs shaking, and ran towards the castle. Run faster, I have to run faster

Just as I reached the castle gates I heard a big explosion inside the forest.

No that's not them, No!!! Forcing myself not to believe that the explosion was not Zira's doing. I ran towards the palace guards crying.

We reached the place where the draconians cornered us. Corpses are lying around and in the middle was a crying boy of my age holding Zira in his arms.

I slowly walked near them, this time there were no more tears Maybe it's because I cried a lot earlier

"Zi-Zira?" I mumbled

The boy looked up his face full of tears, his eyes full of sorrow and regret. When he realized that it was me, his expression hardened.

"You!!!!"

"If it weren't for you, Zira should still be alive! If you didn't force us to go explore the woods this wouldn't have happened!!!"

"Curse you!!!!!!!" He shouted

Back to present

Jayce's POV

"I remember now"

"You're Zira's partner!" I said

"That's right and now I have come to avenge her death!"

"You will die!"

"Earth golemn!" He casted

"Now die!"

I dodge the golemn's attack but it was too fast so I recieved a painful blow in my stomach resulting of me flying backwards. I struggled to get up while clenching my stomach. Where's my magic when you need it?!

"How are you feeling 'Your Highness', tsk so pathetic"

He then summoned another golemn and threw giant boulders towards my direction.

I closed my eyes So this is the end huh, Forgive me Zira I can't keep my promise.

I was already thinking about death when suddenly I felt a strong familiar energy.

"Get up!" I heard Zira's voice but it seems different

"Get up!" I heard it again.

I opened my eyes, still confused of what is going on, then suddenly the image of a girl appeared in my mind, now that's why

I smirked

"Thanks.....Scarlett"

When the boulder was about to hit me, I closed my fist and the boulder turned to ash

"H-how???!!!" Jayce asked eyed wide opened.

I smirked at him " my turn"
