Summer Vacation For Introverts

It's that time of the year again. Summer vacation!

A time off from school to relax, tan, hang out with friends, and recoup before another year of stress and worries.

However, if you're anything like me, you find the idea of summer anything but relaxing. There's always to stress and FOMO. You want to make your summer the best summer because before you know it, it's over and it's back to the grind we go.

Then you realize, "wait a minute, I don't like people. I don't have many friends. I don't have money."

For me, this is the problem. I want to travel, hang out, relax, and have fun before my senior year of high school, but I'm having those hard thoughts. I don't have money. I don't have many friends. Why must I struggle so much?

Now, I've spent every single one of my summers laying in bed and moping around. This year, I have to make it count. This is the last summer I have before I am officially an adult. Next summer break, I'll be eighteen. That makes me a legal adult. That's insane. Therefore, I've decided, this year I'm going to be a teenager.

From this point until college starts for me, I'm going to be a rebellious teen. I'm going to stay out past curfew and try things I normally wouldn't and I think that's okay.

I know that there are a lot of kids like me out there. A lot of depressed, shy, anxiety-ridden teens struggling to make it work. But if there is one thing I have learned from my junior year in high school is that nothing will happen unless you make it happen. Unless you give it an opportunity, all your hopes and dreams will stay exactly that; dreams.

Summer vacation is what you make of it. You don't need money to go for a walk. You don't need money to hang out with at least one friend. You don't need many friends as long as you have one true person that loves you.

Things will be okay. Make the most of summer vacation. And even if you're like me and cannot stand the heat, make it count. Take a dive in a pool. You'll regret not doing it when you're older. haha.

With love,
