"Being pregnant is a marvelous experience. Before, I was afraid about the idea of giving birth, but now, I'm really looking forward to it." - Rebecca Loos

"Ugh," I groaned loudly, "Why did we want this?"

"I'm kind of wondering the same thing," Rose said, proceeding to look down at her belly, "You better be cute."

"It will be," I said.

"I hate using it to refer to our baby," Rose said.

"Well, what should I say then?" I asked.

"I guess we'll know soon enough," Rose said. We were due for an ultrasound today. It was the gender reveal. I considered waiting but Rose was insistent on knowing and if I'm honest, not knowing would have driven me crazy.

At the appointment, Rose was up first. I held her hand and as we waited for the ultrasound, my hand hurt from her vice grip. Finally, I was saved by the nurse who came in to perform our ultrasounds. She greeted us with a warm smile and got the supplies she needed and squirted some gel onto Rose's bare belly. Rose shivered a little and giggled softly.

The nurse used the little wand and moved it around Rose's belly. She watched the screen, as did I, waiting for the full image of the little one in my beautiful wife's belly. Finally when she did find our little one, I smiled widely and tears nearly started streaming down my face. The nurse moved the wand around, taking pictures occasionally.

"There we go," the nurse said, gesturing to the screen, "It's a girl." Rose and I looked at each other and smiled. The nurse finished up, printed out some pictures and let me get onto the table and get as comfortable as I could. The stiff bed was uncomfortable but Rose's warm hand relaxed my body. I hated the jelly, it felt strange against my belly. I waited while the wand slid around my belly.

After she was done getting a picture of James and Charlie's little one, she showed us that it was going to be a boy. We asked for more pictures for James and Charlie. After we got cleaned up and checked out, we left the stuffy office. Rose and I stopped by a restaurant on the way home. I got roast beef, provolone cheese, and dijon mustard. Rose got honey ham, pepper jack cheese, and pickles. We also got some bread and sat in the parking lot, eating our sandwiches while watching random videos on YouTube.

Harley and I stopped by James and Charlie's house on the way home. They were very excited to see us. As soon as we stepped in their home, they jumped on us and asked us all about the appointment. We giggled at these two men excitedly moving us into the house and getting us some water. Once we sat down, we told them everything. They sat, watching us, leaning close, their attention focused on our every word. When we told them their baby was going to be a boy, they looked at each other and laughed before embracing each other, holding on to one another tightly.

After they had their moment, they looked at me and Rose. They smiled and thanked us over and over again. We stayed and as James and Charlie talked to us I felt my eyes close as I leaned over and rested my head on Rose's chest. The room in front of me fell into darkness as I drifted off to sleep.
