87 - Real Life

Freddie's P.O.V:
(Well this is unexpected)

Sitting in the auditorium for the musical practice I felt an uneasy feeling in my stomach. I had been noticing sweetpea's comments on Josie's Instagram and it was starting to worry me. We hadn't been hanging out as much since then and I couldn't help but wonder, was he avoiding me? Why? Does he have feelings for Josie?

I was suddenly brought out of my thoughts when Kevin walked on stage announcing that rehearsal was starting. He first had us announce what characters we would be playing. Josie goes first saying that she is Veronica. Next is Sweetpea, "hi I'm Sweetpea, I'm playing JD, Veronica sawyers bad boy love interest". For some reason this made me feel uncomfortable. Everyone else introduces themselves and their parts until it was my turn. "Hi I'm freddie, and I'm playing heather McNamara". I see Sweetpea look at me for a split second before turning away awkwardly. What is his deal today? I'll talk to him after practice.

Practice goes on for a long time, and then around an hour later we are done. I see Sweetpea walking towards the door so I quickly run up to him and stop him. "Hey sweetpea, can we umm talk for a minute?". "Freddie I really have to go". "Please, it'll be quick". "Fine, what's up?" I sit down on one of the auditorium chairs and Sweetpea does the same.

"Can I ask you three questions?"
"Sure fredz"
"Okay, Are you um avoiding me?"
"W what. No I would never" Sweetpea quickly says. But I can tell he's lying.
All I do is sigh.
"Next question, why are you commenting those things on Josie's posts."
He doesn't reply, he just sits there looking at the floor in complete silence.
"Sweets?"
He looks up, into my eyes. God I love his eyes.
"Um well" he pauses "it's nothing Freddie really, look I have to go do some serpent stuff" he goes to stand up but I stop him.
"Sweetpea please don't lie to me. I know when your lying, just tell me...please"
He sits back down and now it's his turn to sigh.
"You really wanna know?"
I nod
"Before I met you, about a year ago me and Josie had a thing. It was only a fling, nothing serious. Atleast to her, to me it was more. I really liked her and then when the school year started she ended things. Claiming I was dangerous and from the wrong side of the tracks" tears began to fall down his face.
"Sweets, I I'm sorry" I say putting a hand on his cheek wiping away his tears.
"I can't do this Freddie" he says standing up.
"I'm sorry, seeing her with Archie made me realise I'm not entirely over her".
I sit there in shock at what he just said.
"What?"
"I don't wanna hurt you freddie, I'm sorry" he runs away.
