Message To Bears - Mountains
If we could run away
Before the light of day
You know we always could
The mountain's safe
~~~~~~~~~
The bitter cold bit her skin.
Snowflakes drifted to the ground like tiny dancers around her, landing on her clothes.
She shivered, trying to keep her head up, to keep the cold from dragging her into the dark, where she'd sleep forever, eternally.
She couldn't look back, otherwise, she'd collapse on her knees, and succumb to the frostbite.
In the distance, she saw figures, all in blurred colours as darkness edged her vision.
Ten more steps. She told herself determinedly, trudging through the waist-deep snow.
The squawk of a falcon sounded nearby, and she looked for the source.
There, on a rock, was the falcon.
It looked at her, cocking its head to the side in curiosity.
Giving a few more squawks, before its golden eyes suddenly became blue.
She stopped, staring at the bird.
It was still, as a statue.
Quickening her steps, the girl started running.
The bird's eyes became golden once more, and it took off from its branch, squawking as it followed her.
Finally, she made it to the cave, where she had her secret hideout for summer.
Unfortunately, though, it was winter.
And it was hella cold.
She chuckled at that last thought, before grabbing a few twigs from the woodfire pile she'd so carefully collected throughout the seasons coming up to winter.
And there, at the back of the cave, was her little snake friend, Remo.
He was quietly sleeping, as the cold would simply kill him if he stayed where he was.
The little girl lit the fire using her flint and steel she'd ''borrowed'' from the baker.
Remo lifted his head up, noticing the fire.
She invited him over, him slithering over to the girl with big eyes.
''Oh, you are such a cute one.'' She said, picking him up and placing him on her shoulder.
Remo gave off an annoyed look, rather preferring she call him ''The strong one'' as his name meant.
The girl heard footsteps crunching on the snow, and before she could do anything, two people in different coloured clothes appeared at the entrance of the cave.
One in black and one in red.
Their eyes were all directly on her and Remo, who was trying his best not to be noticed.
''Are you okay?'' Asked the one in black, clearly concerned for her.
She shook her head, confused as to what they wanted from her.
The fire went out, and she immediately hid, not trusting the strangers that appeared.
Once the red one had lit his hand on fire and relit the fire she'd made, they looked around the small cave she would come to call home.
The one in black found her, with the snake curled on her arm.
He took off his mask, which had been covered with white snow.
Black hair tumbled out, and his dark brown eyes sparkled in the dim firelight.
''I'm Cole, Cole Brookstone.'' He introduced himself, smiling.
~~~~~~
That was months ago.
Now, (Y/n) had a wonderful friendship with Cole, who treated her better than the others on the team.
After everything, they were still close friends.
