Ciara.

The Alpha mindlinked me, telling me to report to his office as soon as possible.

Fucking hell!

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the conversation I have with Yuda earlier.

And judging with the scent that lingers in the air, the Alpha isn't alone. He is with his wife.

I knocked the door twice before hearing hin say 'come in'.

As I opened the door, their gazes were focused on me, making me less confident than I am when I made my way here.

"Good afternoon Alpha, Luna..."

They greeted me in return.

"We're here to enlighten you about... Amore." the Luna said with a smile.

I am torn between hating her smile and feeling at ease seeing it.

I nodded. "Okay, what about him?"

"First of all, I would like to say that I am sorry if you're feeling that way. You have every right to be. I mean, nobody's going to blame you. Nobody's here to judge or condemn you. But in return, we are here to ask you the same thing... And that is not to condemn, Amore. Sure, there isn't the slightest reason for you to hold on and have faith in him after all the things he did to you and all the things you went through but Ciara, you are his mate."

I swallowed.

I counted one to ten to calm my tits as anger starts to rise within me.
"I do understand you Luna Casey but forgiving him or even hearing his side of the story requires time and adjustment. Forgiveness comes in the right time and so is acceptance. I cannot achieve any of the two if I'll be forcing myself to give him something I feel he doesn't deserve at the time being."

"I know, I know..." Luna Casey nodded.
"But things happen for a reason. I am not here defending him. I am here to explain why he became the monster he is... or was. And I only did this because he isn't here to defend himself and to fight for your bond but Ciara, he has the worst upbringing possible. He was... who he is now because of the terrifying things he overcome."

I nodded.
"I do understand, Luna. I only ask for my own space and time to wrap my head over everything that's thrown on my way. Because this is... this is quite... overwhelming..."

"I hope we are having this conversation with the barrier gone. You are... you are speaking like he was never yours, like he isn't your mate. I do understand that because in this situation, the matebond is absent. And without the matebond, we will never give an exception to who we are blessed with. The matebond is beyond significant to relationships. That's what makes the mate relationship successful. Without it, we act without our extreme willingness to make our relationships work. We only act what we believe we need to. It may be for ourselves, maybe for the others..."

"To be honest with you Luna, I am glad that we are having this conversation with my heart and head clear. I am beyond grateful for this chance you gave me, the chance of being with someone who loves me... who truly cares for me... who gave my life a reason to exist... And I won't ever give it up over a bond which cannot guarantee me a meaningful living."

"But you do care for him, right?"

I nodded.
"I wouldn't deny how special he is to me and at first, I hate myself for feeling this way. Now I do understand why I'm feeling this, it is because of the matebond. And I won't act innocent and saintly by denying how magical it was when I stayed in his arms. But that won't be enough for me to give up Miguel. It will never be..."

"But Ciara, you know that Amore's your true mate and that only means one thing, at the end of the day, you will end up with Amore."

"Luna, I will think of it when time comes but as of now, I want to stay away from Amore. I wouldn't ask you to change the only responsibility you assigned me but other than that, he cannot expect anything from me."

Sadness is written all over her face.

"I am sorry, Luna."

She shook her head. "D-Don't be sorry."
She turned to the Alpha.

The Alpha cleared his throat.
"What about the prophecy?"

"Alpha, I am willing to cooperate and help with all I can but that doesn't include crawling back to Amore's arms again. I might forgive him but I won't be coming back to him. That's all I can promise you..."

"And why is that?"

"It's because of his affair with Avery."
I kept a straight face, not wanting to show them how broken I am with the bare thought of him being with someone else.

"You do have an affair with him now, and with the current situation you're in, you are mated with Miguel. That's a little hypocrite of you, right?"

"I..." I swallowed hard. I don't know what to say, what to act or what to do to convince them that I have nothing to do with him. I don't want to be with him.

He nodded.
"Have you ever thought about how painful it is for that idiot to watch you go home with another man? Nor to smell another male's scent all over you? Another man touching you? Or did you even imagine how would it feel if he'll be with someone else? Let's say, you guys change places. How does it feels?"

My lips tremble as I feel my heart being punched a couple of times.

"Ciara?" Alpha called unto me.
"I am asking you a question."

I swallowed the lump in my throat.
"I... I cannot imagine myself going through the same situation though I've been told that I have accepted it before Yuda blocked the bond with a barrier."

The Alpha let out a sigh.
"I did not summon you to start an argument. Once again, we are here to enlighten you. Because if I were you, if you wouldn't accept Amore back, then bear in mind that the barrier won't last forever and that Miguel is destined for someone else. He isn't yours. And if he was yours, then he'll hate you for what you did. No secrets last forever, remember that. It's either he'll accept you or he'll react the same with your reaction now."

I looked away.

He let out a sigh.
"I know it hurts, but remember, mates always worth the forgiveness, the acceptance, the patience, the pain, the trauma... everything. Mates worth it all. And if you must know, before Yuda placed the barrier, Amore called for you. He attempted to stop us but there is nothing he could do. And when you didn't recognize him, it's the first time I saw him broken. He didn't talk for weeks until we assign you to be his server. With you existing in his life again, he started to live. I am not saying that you have to forgive him and accept him now. What I'm trying to say is that you don't focus on his faults, his mistakes and his shortcomings as a man. Focus on the fact that he is worth your forgiveness and acceptance because he is the man you are blessed with. He accepted you despite of Miguel's active participation in your life so I guess you two could call it quits now."

A tear escaped my eyes.

The Luna made her way towards me.
"Ciara, I know it hurts but he is yours, as you his..." The Luna whispered while wiping my tear.

I cannot stop a sob from breaking out.

Luna Casey hugged me.
"He loves you and despite all the things he owe me, all the things that he did to offend me, I still forgive him. I know that he is worth my forgiveness and he deserves to be happy. What matters is he is making up for his mistakes. We do not need to make him pay, you do not need to make him pay, we need to accept him, forgive him and just be happy."

She wiped my tears once again.
"Ciara, he deserves you as you deserve him. You deserve each other because you deserve to be happy. Don't let hatred reign in you. Darkness cannot take away darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot take away hate, only love can do that."
