The two were sitting on the couch, each doing their own things. Poe was typing away on his laptop, humming thoughtfully. Ranpo was sucking on a lollipop, his head on Poe's shoulder.
"Do you love me?" Poe asked out of the blue. It had caught Ranpo by surprise. He thought for a moment, "Hmmmm.... no." His tone was playful and sarcastic.
Poe stopped typing, the room growing awkward with tension. Poe had begun to tear up, "B-but... I thought you loved me..." Ranpo was about to reply when he caught the tears in his beloved's eyes.
"NONONO SHIT! I WAS BEING SARCASTIC AND JOKING. I PROMISE I LOVE YOU!!" Ranpo had forgotten how sensitive Poe was to these kind of jokes. He set his laptop aside, embracing the author in a tight hug, "I was joking, but I promise I'll never make those kind of jokes again."
"Promise?"
"Promise. Oh and— I love you."
