Hiya y’all! Now, in this chapter, I’m gonna let you’s in on a little secret of mine. It’s based on the fact that when I was a kid, I was terrified of the dark. Hated it. Wouldn’t sleep without a nightlight. At the time, it’s because in my wacked up imagination of a five-year old, the dark was home to Lord Voldemort, Vampires, The Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Zombies, etc etc, you get the idea! Nowadays, I’m still scared, but it’s because I have no idea what’s there. You’ll see where I’m going with this…

Anyways, on with the chappie!

I guess it could have gone a lot worse. It was more the interview I was concerned about. I had done a few with Ashley before, but that was with Ashley.

Speaking of which, what was up with him? I couldn’t place it.

I shook my head as I waited for him to turn up, my arms crossed as I looked out on the cold January scenery. I was beginning to regret not taking up Raven’s offer on taking me home.

Leaning my head back against the stone wall, I closed my eyes, and gave an annoyed sigh as it began to snow rather heavily. Bloody hell, where are you dad?

I checked my phone, and bit my lip. If he didn’t get his ass in gear, then it would be too dangerous for him to drive here. And it was a good two hours walk back home.

I decided I might as well have a seat while there wasn’t any snow on the ground so I didn’t get a wet bum. Leaning against the wall, I rubbed my arms, my breath dancing before my eyes in a white vapour cloud. Where was he?

Half an hour later, I was still sitting there. This is now ridiculous!

Pulling my phone out my pocket, I tried to call him, only to curse at the device, as there was no signal. Great, just great!

I huddled up in a ball tighter, my chin on top of my knees. I was about five minutes from walking it.

Twenty minutes later, I gave up. My clothing wet from the snow, my shoes not gripping, I started to walk back, only to stop in my tracks as I passed a sign.

‘Jayy and Dahvie are just round the corner!’ I whispered, recognizing where I was.

I started off in a different direction, heading for their street. I trudged up the pathway. My legs aching, my body shaking, I raised a fist and knocked on the door. I stood there for a few moments, and was shaken back to the first time I had met them. It was totally different circumstances back then, but the memory was still fresh in my mind.

There was movement behind the door and Jayy opened it. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw me.

‘Sarah-Jane!’ he stood back to let me in. ‘What the hell happened to you?’ he asked, closing the door with a snap.

‘Ashley didn’t turn up.’ I muttered, sighing slightly in the warm breeze that greeted me like an old friend.

‘Git.’ Muttered Jayy. ‘Oi, Dahvie! Grab some of Sally’s old clothing! Sarah-Jane’s about to turn to an icicle if she doesn’t change!’

I heard a scuffle, and then Dahvie, appeared, holding a bundle of clothing.

‘Cheers.’ I muttered, taking it off him.

‘Bathroom is to your right.’ He said gently as I climbed the stairs.

I put her clothing on, a pair of red skinny jeans and an “Unforgiven” t-shirt, and came back downstairs. Jayy smiled at me.

‘Come in here. Dahvie’s on the phone to Ashley.’

‘That boy has no regard for time.’ Called a voice from the living room.
