Calum

I slowly walked into the house and looked around. I sighed as the house appeared ransacked, like the other hundred that I had come across on the road. I got out my knife, just in case. I walked into the kitchen and opened all of the cupboards.

"Fuck, yes." I smiled as I opened a cabinet to reveal several tins of food. I took my bag off of my shoulders and shoved the tins in before putting the bag back onto my back. I walked into the hallway and looked around. I looked in the mirror and grimaced at the sight. My face was caked with dirt and my hair was ratty, with several strands no longer tied up.

"Wow. I look like shit." I mumbled to myself.

"Yeah, you do." I whipped around and raised my knife so that it was pressed into the neck of the boy.

"Woah, woah." He chuckled as he held his hands up in defence.

"Who are you?" I gulped.

"My name's Calum, and you're sort of in my house." He nodded. I looked around.

"I think you should leave." He spoke.

"Oh, I'm not going anywhere." I scoffed, pressing the knife further against his skin.

"Okay, okay, let's not do anything drastic, if you kill me, you know I'll come back." He warned.

"So? I have a gun." I lied.

"No, you don't." he chuckled. I sighed.

"Lower the knife, and you can stay." He spoke. I sighed again and lowered the knife whilst he rubbed his neck.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Y/N, you?" I responded.

"I'm Calum. You got a camp?" he questioned. I nodded.

"Can I go back with you?" he asked. I scoffed.

"I'm not the one in charge, and I'll be kicked out if I bring you back-."

"Please. I've been alone for months and I ran out of ammo last week." He begged. I sighed.

"Fine. We leave in the morning." I muttered, making him smile.

"Oh, and just for the record, you look just as bad as I do, if not worse." I called back.

"I had that coming." He chuckled as I walked into the kitchen.

Luke

"Shit." Luke mumbled as the car slowed down.

"What?" I asked.

"We're out of petrol." He sighed. My eyes widened at him.

"Are you fucking kidding me? You said we had enough." I spat.

"I know I did, Ashton said that we had enough." He huffed.

"Luke, we're miles away from camp, the sun is setting, and there's a herd of walking heading our way." I snapped.

"I know we're in shit, Y/N, there's no need to remind me." He hissed.

"Don't you fucking dare try to pin this on me-."

"Y/N, we are going to die if we keep fighting and don't get away, so what do you want to do?" he snapped, making me sigh.

"You're right. Grab your gun, come on." I spoke before opening the car door and climbing out.

"We need to find petrol, have you got the pump?" I asked as I held my gun close to my chest.

"Yeah. I'll see if I can get any." He mumbled. I nodded before climbing onto the roof of the car and looking around.
