Case of the Pricklies/Aftermath (Part 1)

Next morning had arose, with the ambient sound of chirping birds and squealing pterodactyls to start yet another day. A lumpy shape under the covers from head to toe stirred, grunting quietly in their sleep. Wonder who that could be? A blonde soon entered the room, grinning toothily as she flipped the light on. "Rise and shine, peanut!" It squirmed more, trying to find their way out of the blanket searching for that all too familiar voice. The figure emerged awake, tossing it aside to reveal KO and he...... still looked the same as yesterday. Still with spikes, claws and a tail. He rubbed his eyes, moaning drowsily. Carol blinked, shocked, but kept it inside herself, the smile slightly faltering. She studied her boy, tilting her head, "KO?" KO tilted his head back with curiosity, picking at his hair, blinking twice. "Yeah?" 

"You okay?" she asked, heading over to his bed to reach for his ear. She had to admit, he still looked quite cute. He sensed her nearing close to him, and wiggled the one she was about to brush, and his body tensed a bit, not knowing why though. Carol's smile widened at this wiggling of his ear, but she backed off when she saw him tense up, a little worried. "It's alright, peanut." Was he? KO said nothing as a slight headache from the situation came on with a small whine. Then he hung his head down, where he glances at his clawed, green feet and tail. He started to dread that this wasn't mere imagination as he figured as such. "Uuummmmm..." he hummed, his heart was racing. The blonde took this moment to reach out again, to scratch gently behind his ear, to reassure him that she still loved him. Without warning, he trips himself with said tail and falls off the bed at the last second with a grunt. KO then managed to pick himself back up and took off to the bathroom, his vision getting misty. 

"I'LLBERIGHTBACK!" he shouted quickly, and slammed the bathroom door hard the moment he rushed in. KO looked around with haste, his tail accidentally knocking down his toothbrush and hand soap. He then shut the toilet lid to avoid the two falling in there, then went to the mirror conveniently above his sink, now staring at his reflection for a couple of seconds, feeling around for his face that once formerly felt smooth as a baby's bottom.

Oh, no. Come on, not now, KO, wake up! He mentally screamed to himself. Mommy was concerned, staring out the door. But she stood there and waited for him.

KO blinked, a grunt in disbelief. He tugged the knob to let warm water flow from the faucet, cupping some it up in his hands, then splashed his face in it. Then he glanced at the reflecting image again, no changes whatsoever. Nothing. So the mutant child tried this again, with the exact same method as he washed it once more. Aaannndd... huh. Still nothing. Dangit. Okay, dream's over, you can get up now... What was going on? KO repeated the same procedure over again. Pull, splash, peak. Pull, splash, peak. Pull, splash, peak! Lather, rinse, repeat!

He was desperate now, as he came to a stop, holding his head in confusion and terror.  

"AUUGH! KO, WAKE UP, COB DARN IT!"

She heard the frustrated yell and immediately abandoned her post to rush to the bathroom, and knocked on the door. "Peanut! you okay?!"

"No," was a muffled, tearful response from the other side of the room. "Aww, my little boy.." Carol pressed her hands on the door. "Can I come in?"

"Mm-hmm..." he hummed in agreement, though he didn't sound exactly the best. The door should be unlocked. So she turned the knob and opened the door. She immediately scooped up her baby boy, hugging him close. KO was all curled up like a cat, in a waterfall of tears and mouth slathered in that acidic green saliva. This kinda burned her, but she didn't care, closing her eyes. "I still love you, Peanut.."

"I'm a-" he hiccuped between sobs. "All monster-y and-" hic "thorny..."

"That doesn't matter.." the blonde hero reassured him, still holding him close. "You're still you."
