Friday came quickly and now Ember knew she was running out of time. She sighed, a wave of tears began to gush from her eyes 'Great you've started now, good luck stopping, what will Cece think?' she thought, swallowing the lump in her throat. She sniffled for a while the sun a mocking injustice to her feelings. Suddenly (in the middle of her breakdown), her phone buzzed. A miracle happened. She looked at her phone shakily, but instead of some remark or threat from her father, it was a reply from a social worker! The tears she was shedding from her sadness, morphed into tears of happiness. Celina rushed into the room. "Are you alright? I'm sorry! I was downstairs, what's wrong?" Celina said frantically, worried for her bestest friend. Ember smiles and laughed "I was sad I would have to go back to my 'dad' but a social worker is going with me to my house to see if I would end up without a home and see if my dad is doing anything worse... I'm so happy! I might get some justice..." She said through a muddle of happy sobs and flung herself at Celina for a bear hug. The sun shined brighter than ever, a spotlight on this beautiful show. They hugged for what felt like an eternity. Ember showed Celina the phone, the texts read as follows: "Hello, I am Zoe, this is Ember from Wrekin Highschool correct? I will be accompanying you today to your home to evaluate your situation, accommodation has already been provided if needed, which I am sure you'll want, seeing your current circumstances. Thank you, I look forward to your reply."
"Thank you so much! It is a pleasure to meet you Rowan. I assume the school gave all the details?"
"Yes, I will be in your school office today, you may bring a friend if you feel more comfortable, thank you so much!"
"Thank you! Will meet you!"Ember smiled and sighed and flipped onto the bed "How did I get into this mess but yet get so lucky?"
"Life works in mysterious ways..." Celina replied with a smirk laying down next to her, they both smiled and got back up and left the home to the hell that is their shit-hole of a school.
